MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE HELD AT 'TATE TOWN OFFICE BUIT.T)ING, MONDAY EVENING, OCTOBER 25, 1943. The meeting was opened in the Town Accountant' s office at 8:00 P.M. by Chairman Lewis L. Hoyt, with the following mem- bers in attendance : Lewis L. Hoyt, Chairman George M. Hynes Richard T!r. Maynard Carl '. Bryant Ronald D. Brown Harvey F. Winlock Thatcher Jenney Fred C. Newhall Raymond A. Bond Raymond L. Z'Jhite, Town Accountant Minutes of the Meeting held September 20, 1943. . It was regularly moved and voted to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the regular meeting held September 20, 1943. *******-::-* ** Chairman Lewis L. Hoyt read a letter from the Board of Selectmen, requesting a transfer from the Reserve Fund to the Elections Department - Expenses - Selectmen in the amount of ' 37.03. This transfer is necessary to meet the payment of a bill for envelopes which were ordered for that Department in March. A motion was made, seconded and voted to transfer the sum of ?37.03 from the Reserve Fund to Elections Department - Ex- penses - Selectmen. The School Committee, consisting of Randall B. Houghton, Tracy Ames, Mrs. Luther R. Putney and Thomas S. Grindle, entered the meeting at 8:05 P.M. Mr. Randall B. Hougliton, Chairman, was the speaker, He said that the School Committee decided that something should be done in the way of increases to the teachers, due to the increase in the cost of living. He also stated that his Committee had definite demands from the janitors for more money and these demands were granted in order to hold the janitors. This Committee also has demands from the men and women teachers for more money on account of the increased cost of living. Mr. Roughton said that the result of all this, reduced to figures, is as follows :
