9 <br /> qP <br /> January 29, 1962 �9 <br /> The Appropriation Committee met Monday evening January 29, 1962 at <br /> $:00 P. M. in the office of the Town Accountant. <br /> Present : J. Harper Blaisdell, Chairman <br /> Raymond L. White, Temp. Sec. <br /> C. Roland Christensen John R. Bevan <br /> Frank E. Douglas Maurice F. Shaughnessy <br /> Richard H. Battin Logan Clarke Jr. <br /> Alfred Viano telephoned earlier today and stated that he could not make <br /> the meeting this evening. <br /> At shortly after $:00 P. M. James J. Carroll was admitted to this <br /> meeting to speak on and go over the Board of Registrars budget. Ike stated <br /> that this budget changed each year due to the fact that some years only <br /> one election, other years two elections and some years three elections, <br /> the more elections per year, the cost likewise increases. The $2,645.00 <br /> for year 1960 was for three elections. The $1,650.00 for year 195$ was <br /> for two elections and the $900.00 for year 1961 was for one election. <br /> Mr. Carroll was asked about investing cash and getting interest on same, <br /> the same as many of the Towns are doing and thereby earning $12,000.00 <br /> or more interest per year on funds laying idle. <br /> Mr. Carroll was asked to 'give this Committee the monthly bank balance <br /> for the past year and some other information requested. Mr. Carroll <br /> stated he could not do it tonight but would give us the information in <br /> the next day or two. Mr. Carroll left this meeting at $:25 P. M. <br /> Mr. Blaisdell asked who were planning to go to the Town Finance Committee <br /> meeting on Wednesday evening February 7, 1962 at Motel 128 at 6:00 P. M. <br /> Mr. Blaisdell and Raymond White said they planned to attend. <br /> A letter was written by two of the members and delivered to Mr. James J. <br /> Carroll confirming the discussion relative to free cash and the information <br /> he agreed to furnish this Committee. <br /> Messrs. Blaisdell, Battin and White tried to get figures together to see <br /> what the total budgets amounted to and to get an idea what the tax <br /> rate looks like. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 11:30 P.
