Meeting of the Appropriation Committee, Monday, June 5, 1967, 7:30 p.m. <br /> Present: J. Blaisdell, Acting Chairman; M. Bretscher; E. Furash; <br /> R. Gary; G. Kolovson; L. Zehner; a. Sgouza <br /> _ Committee Report_ for June 12 Special Town Meeting edited and <br /> approved. <br /> Available Free Cash ( E & D) as of 5/31/67 $236,913.10 <br /> Estimated Overlay — ask Assessors if they have decided what <br /> figure to use for this, if no decision, use 3120,000 in report. <br /> Art. 3 Civil Defense — letter from Arthur Burrell to Rata Selectmen <br /> states that a minimum amount of about 36,000 is needed for the rest <br /> of the year. <br /> �--I Art. 5 Cemetery Dept. expenses. Of the $1800 budgeted for overtime, <br /> 61500 has now been spent. May expenditures were large, probably <br /> in anticipation of Memorial Day. <br /> Art. 6 Regional Aefuse Disposal Committee expense — recommend <br /> 33,000 but do not set up an operating account for this, since it <br /> should not be a yearly budget. <br /> Meeting with Selectmen <br /> Art. 11 Study of Great Meadows — Selectmen will move indefinite <br /> postponement on this. <br /> Art. 3 Civil Defense was discussed at length. Linc Cole suggests <br /> that money be appropriated for the following items: <br /> Warning system 31,662. <br /> Printing and distrib. <br /> of info. brochure 725. <br /> Stocking shelters 420 <br /> Surppus materials 400 <br /> 3,207 <br /> Arthur Burrell stated that no money would be available for repair <br /> of equipment, such as the now inoperable generators. <br /> Unencumbered balance now available is about 31400, 3836 of which <br /> is needed for police and fire radio system. <br /> Mr. Cole assured Committee that,if $3200 were made available, the <br /> warning system would be kept in order and emergency equipment would <br /> be re faired end mainained. Voted to recommend 33200. <br /> Art. 10 — Mass. Ave. construction — Voted to recommend $14,000 <br /> Total amount recommended to be appropriated, June mtg. 369,800. <br /> Amount recommended to be transferred from E & D 53,000. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Ruth F.
