1 31 <br /> Meeting of the Appropriation Committee, Monday, May 15, 1967, 7:30 p.m. <br /> Present: Don Grant, Acting Chairman; J. Blaisdell; M. Bretscher; <br /> E. Furash; R. Gary; R. Perry, Comptroller; G. Kolovson; <br /> L. Zehner; 11. Souza <br /> Remional Refuse Disposal Planning Committee discussed. <br /> Its powers and duties are given in Sections 44A to 44K of <br /> Chapter 40 of the General Laws. M.A.P.C. has sent a bulletin <br /> Outlining its plans for constructing incinerators to serve the <br /> regions in this area. <br /> Art. 27 — Concord Ave. Sidewalk <br /> Robert Kingsbon, Erik Mollo—Christianson, and Wm. halon came to <br /> give information in support of this citizens' Article. <br /> Article as written requests appropriation of $20,000 from E & D <br /> for construction of sidewalk from westerly end of Benjamin Rd. <br /> to Waltham St. This is not one of the sidewalks recommended <br /> by the School Dept. because children in this area are bussed. <br /> Residents have petitioned (120 signatures) because traffic, which <br /> generally travels at 40 m.p.h. or more, endangers pedestrians, <br /> particularly Jr. H.S. and U.S. students who stay at school for <br /> extra—curricular activities and must walk from Waltham St. <br /> Art. 10 Bedford Sewer, original appropriation was $166,000, <br /> balance remaining from this appropriation is 3159,000. Additional <br /> money is to be requested to make pipes larger than originally <br /> planned. Inquire whether the general sewer appropriation can be <br /> used for this purpose. <br /> Art. 13 Emerson Road — Ask whether this will be constructed with <br /> or without betterments assessed. <br /> Out—of—state travel (see minutes of npril 24, 1967) <br /> Limitation of appropriation in any year to 1/100% of assessed <br /> valuation for the last three years applies to each department <br /> not to total out—of—state travel budget. <br /> Next Meeting — May 22.
