Lexington Council for the Arts <br />Meeting Agenda <br />Tonight's meeting will be primarily focused on the review of the 2016 grant applications received <br />by the Council. <br />1. Pre - Meeting Tasks <br />a. Review of handouts & minutes <br />b. Attendance: <br />• Present: Cristina Burwell (Chair), Diana South (Treasurer), Lynne Klemmer, Seetha <br />Ramnath, Jean Hart, Emily Passman, Susan Hammond, Faith Lin <br />• Absent: Cheryl Meadow, Jessie Steigerwald, Leslie Masson <br />• Recording Secretary: Seetha Ramnath <br />Meeting start time: 7:10pm <br />2. REPORTS <br />a. Secretary's Report <br />b. Approval of previous meeting's minutes - Motion made by Jean Hart, seconded by Lynne Klemmer. <br />c. Chairperson's Report <br />• Membership - Emily Passman announced she will be stepping into a new role - Special <br />Projects Associate (available for projects such as making creations for LC4A in the <br />Patriots' Day Parade), and retiring from the Council. Emily noted that her responsibilities <br />with the Council will be taken over by Faith Lin. Members were asked to spread the word <br />about filling this new vacancy in the Council membership. <br />d. Treasurer's Report <br />• Diana displayed the LCA financial spreadsheet from her laptop to a projection screen for <br />Council members to review the numbers real -time <br />• Total funds for 2016 granting: $5085 <br />e. Grants <br />• Council members reviewed 23 grantee applications, with 4 denied because of lack of <br />public benefit, or because no venue was identifed. <br />• Of the 23 remaining, 4 more grantees were decided to be denied because of lack of public <br />benefit or an unclear plan. As such, disapproval letters will be sent out this week and a 15 <br />day waiting period will be necessary for them to apply for reconsideration before the <br />Council may make awards to any of the remaining grantees. <br />• Council members assigned grant monies to the grantees they plan to fund and will confirm <br />this at the January meeting (this draft assignment can be viewed by members on the <br />Council's Google drive). <br />• Finalized decisions with letters of acceptance will be sent after January 2016 meeting. <br />3. OLD BUSINESS <br />(not discussed, but provided to Council members in written form in meeting handout) <br />a. Website Update: Zoe said that LOS will be paying for the website, so LCA does not need to come <br />to any decisions about the website before its up for renewal in December. The next step will be for <br />interested Council members to meet to formulate a plan for approval by Council members. Contact <br />Cristina if you are interested in being part of this group. <br />b. Community Center Update: Cary Library staff will be syncing the gallery space at the Community <br />Center with their planning of art shows at the library. This space is presently in the hallway outside <br />conference room #247. In the meantime, the 2016 plan is: <br />• January 15 - call for artists <br />• March 15 - artist submissions are due <br />• May 1 - art will be juried <br />• July 1 - art will be mounted <br />c. Gallery Night Update: 10 venues (banks, real estate agencies) & 26 artists. Lifetime <br />Achievement Award to Jean Hart for Leadership in the Arts. <br />d. Window Painting Project Update: This didn't happen due to delay of shop owners' response (via <br />1 of 2 <br />
