<br />MINUTES for: <br />BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING <br />Wednesday May 20, 2015 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />Samuel Hadley Public Services Building <br />2nd Floor Meeting Room <br />201 Bedford Street <br />Lexington, MA 02420 <br />Board of Health Members in Attendance: <br />Wendy Heiger-Bernays, PhD, Chair, Sharon MacKenzie, Burt Perlmutter, MD, Jay Flynn, JD <br />Health Division Attendees: <br />Gerard F. Cody, Health Director, Linda Rainville, Clerk <br />1.) Minutes of April 1, 2015 approved with three corrections and Article III Hearing of May 5, 2015 approved <br />with one correction <br />2.) Discussion and Decision on proposed revisions to Article III of the Board’s Regulations (Chapter 155 of the <br />Code of the Town of Lexington): “Smoking in the Workplace and Youth Access Regulations. Mr. Cody <br />explained that there was a hearing on May 5, 2015. At that meeting Cheryl Sbarro and Ken Farbstein spoke <br />at the hearing. Mr. Cody also reported that he had received a letter from the Law Office of Duffy Law <br />Office. Kelsey Matheson, Greater Boston Tobacco Free Commission Partner, spoke in support of the new <br />regulation. <br />Dr. Purlmutter motioned to accept the regulations as written to go into effect on July 1, 2015. <br />“The Lexington Board of Health move that the Board revise Article III of the Board’s Regulations (Chapter <br />155 of the Code of the Town of Lexington): “Smoking in the Workplace and Youth Access Regulations, in <br />accordance with the draft regulations dated May 20, 2015 discussed at this meeting subject to such other <br />non-substantive changes to the numbering of and correction of typographical errors in those regulation as <br />may be necessary.” S. MacKenzie seconded. All in favor. <br />3.) Community Health <br /> a.) CHNA grant update – CHNA grant funds are available through July 1st <br /> 1. Showcase at Lahey Hospital on May 14 – Mr. Cody will be presenting the “Showcase”. <br />st <br /> 2. Community Conversation on Mental Health, June 1. – This meeting will be held at the Depot <br />st. <br />Center on June 1 So far we have trained approximately 60 people. <br /> b.) Community Health and Infectious Disease Report – Mr. Cody spoke to the BOH regarding the <br />Community Health Report submitted by D. Neylon. <br /> 1. Animal Quarantine / Rabies prevention - Mr. Cody reported that there still is no Animal <br />Control Officer, the Health Department has been responding to concerns by administrative response to any <br />Animal Control issues. At this time there are seven animals in quarantine and one barking dog report has been <br />handled. <br /> <br />3.) Environmental Health <br /> a.) Environmental Health Report <br />b.) Food Inspection program <br />Beijing - Ms. Frances Cheng, Manager and Ms. Maureen Lee of Food Service Solutions <br />1. <br />discussed the State Sanitary Code violations. Ms. Lee has been working with Ms. Cheng <br /> <br />
