<br />MINUTES for: <br />BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING <br />Wednesday, June 18, 7:00 P.M. <br />Estabrook Hall, Cary Hall Building <br />1605 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington, MA <br />Board of Health Members in Attendance: <br />Burt Perlmutter, MD, John J. Flynn, J.D., Sharon MacKenzie R.N., CCM, David S. Geller, M.D <br />Health Division Attendees: <br />Gerard F. Cody, Health Director, Linda Rainville, Clerk <br />1.) Minutes of May 21, 2014 – Approved with one correction. <br />2.) Community Health <br /> a.) CHNA grant update – Mr. Cody reviewed the Community Health Report with the Board. He <br />informed the Board about Rick Abrams death. <br /> b.) MAPC Smoke free housing grant update – Mr. Cody reported that the Smoke Free Housing plans <br />were moving along nicely. He reviewed the schedule of meetings being held for the residents. Assessments <br />will be done quarterly. There also will be cessation opportunities offered. <br />3.) Lisa Coen presented her thesis regarding food establishment inspections. <br />4.) Environmental Health <br />a.) Food Inspection program <br /> 1.) Royal India Bistro – No One Appeared from Royal India Bistro. <br /> Mr. Cody explained to the Board that he met with Jatinder regarding the violations at his restaurant. <br />Jatinder said there is a language barrier with his employees. The owner is aware of the repercussions of <br />continuing to have violations. Mr. Cody reviewed a letter that was sent to Royal India Bistro regarding the <br />Order to Comply. <br /> 2.) Yangtze River - Ms. McKenzie asked for a copy of the cleaning schedule. <br />b.) State Sanitary Code Case Review <br /> 1.) 26 Volunteer Way <br /> 2.) Abandoned Properties program update <br /> 3.) Rodent Letter – North Street - Mr. Cody told the Board that a letter was sent to 18 residents <br />near North Street regarding the complaint of a rat being seen in the area <br /> 4.) 12 Hayes Avenue – chickens – Mr. Cody shared a letter sent to the residents of 12 Hayes <br />Avenue, they are now in compliance. <br /> 5.) 192 Sprint Street – Septic <br /> 6.) 27 Burlington Street – cesspool - Mr. Cody shared a letter sent to the owners regarding the <br />building code for additions on houses with Septic/Cesspool <br />c.) Medical Marijuana update <br /> 1.) Ethan Handwerker – Mr. Handwerker spoke to the BOH regarding some of the state <br />regulations on Medical Marijuana. Mr. Handwerker has been in contact with the Mass Dept. of Public Health. <br />He is concerned about the regulations regarding MIPs. He asked the BOH to include an MIP practice in the <br /> <br />
