<br />Lexington Housing Partnership <br />MeetingMinutesforMay1,2014 <br />Attendees:MelindaWalker,JoePato,NancyCorcoranRonchetti,JeriFoutter,HarrietCohen,Wendy <br />Manz,MaryHaskell,BetseyWeiss <br />ThemeetingwaschairedbyBetseyWeissandtheminutesweretakenbyHarrietCohen.Themeeting <br />wascalledtoorderat7:39pm. <br />7,2014 <br />1.Busa\[ĻǣI!.͸ƭ6unitspassedTMonApril <br />TheLHPnotedthepassageofthe6LexHabaffordablehousingunitsontheBusapropertyatTown <br />Meeting.ThePartnershipwasgratifiedbythenumberofspeakerswhovoicedsupportforthehousing. <br />2.Discuss/findthreerecommendationsfromtheHPPtosendtotheBOSfor6/19BoSGoalSetting <br />Meeting <br />AttheLHPmeetingonThursdayevening,theattendeesagreedthatwewouldprovideasetof3to5 <br />recommendationstotheBoardofSelectmeninconjunctionwiththeHousingProductionPlan.The <br />LHPproposedfourrecommendationsforconsideration.Theycanbesummarizedasfollows: <br />ImplementplansaspreviouslysubmittedforLeary(andincludeURL) <br />LexingtonhasnotidentifiedopportunitiesforTowncreatedaffordablehousingbeyondthe <br />developmentoftheLearyproperty.Thismeansthataffordablehousinggrowthwillnotkeepup <br />withthegrowthinmarketratehouses,andwillfallbelowthe10%thresholdspecifiedin <br />Chapter40B.Hence,ourrecommendationis: <br />Assessthefeasibilityofbuyingahousewithalargelot,spendingintherangeof$500$750K <br />andputtingasmallclusterofaffordablehousingunitsonthelot.Thiswouldbeamultiyear <br />developmenteffort. <br />Exploreoptionsfordenserhousingdevelopment,forexample,forseniorhousing. <br />TheplanisthattheLHPwilltoagreeonasetofrecommendationsatthenextmeetingonMay22, <br />andthentakeavoteonthemtoformallyproposethemtotheBoS. <br />3.DiscusspointsforafallOpEdonwhyweneedaffordablehousingifweareat10% <br />Thecommitteediscussedtheaspectsofaffordablehousingthatwouldmakeacaseforimplementing <br />additionalaffordablehousinginLexington,eventhoughtheTownisbeyondtheChapter40B <br />opedforthe\[ĻǣźƓŭƷƚƓaźƓǒƷĻƒğƓ thatmakesthiscase. <br />requirementof10%.Thegoalistocreatean <br />4.NewBusiness <br />Ms.WalkerwillbeshowingSteveLaferriereofMetroWestCollaborativeDevelopmentsomeof <br />thepropertiesonthelistoflargertownproperties(theͻ5ƚķƭƚƓƌźƭƷͼΜ͵Theseareprivately <br />thedevelopmentofaffordablehousing. <br />ownedpropertiesthatwouldbeappropriatefor <br />Ms.Fouttersuggestedthatweaddanagendaitemtothenextmeetingtodiscusshowwe <br />mightperformtheoutreachandpublicadvocacyportionoftheLHPcharge. <br />5.NextMeeting <br />TheLHPwillmeetonMay22at7:30pm. <br /> <br />
