<br />TOWNOFLEXINGTON <br />AdhocCommunityCenterAdvisoryCommittee(AhCCAC) <br />ProgramsGroup <br />Minutes of Meeting of August 7, 2014 <br />Final <br />A meeting of the Ad hoc Community Center Advisory Committee Programs Group was held <br />on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 8:30 AM in theBoard of Selectmen’s meeting room at the <br />Town Office Building, 1625 Massachusetts Avenue. <br />Members Present: Jon Himmel, Karen Simmons (Director, Recreation Department), Sheila Butts <br />(Assistant Director, Recreation Department), Charlotte Rodgers (Director, Human Services <br />Department) <br />Members Absent: Florence Koplow, Leslie Zales, Laura Hussong <br />Also present: Robert Pressman <br />Meeting called to order at 8:40 AM with a quorum of four. <br />Minutes: <br />The minutes of the July 30, 2014 and July 31, 2014 meeting will be reviewed at the next meeting. <br />Member Concerns <br />Jon created a draft spreadsheet of the potential staffing needs at the community center based on the <br />information that was discussed at the last meeting. This a great start for beginning the discussion of <br />staff needs of the community center. <br />COA Planning Working Group <br />The work group sent Jon and Laura a copy of their recommended programming at the community <br />center. The Working Group presented this Vision Statement to the Council on Aging Board. <br />Draft of their vision: <br />ThestatementarticulatesprogramminggoalsandrecommendationsfortheCOABoardto <br />considerastheBoarddevelopsitsownrecommendationsfortheƷƚǞƓ͸ƭAdhocCommunity <br />CenterAdvisoryCommittee. <br />GOALS <br />1.ToassistintheseamlesstransferofcurrentprogramsofferedattheSeniorCenterto <br />thenewCommunityCenter. <br />2.Toworkcollaborativelywithothertowndepartments,especiallytheRecreation <br />Department,toimproveandexpandfurtherprogramsforallLexingtoncitizens60+. <br />3.ToplanandassistwiththeimplementationofnewprogramsfortheCommunity <br />CenterthatrespondtotheneedsandwishesofLexingtonseniors. <br />GENERALRECOMMENDATIONS <br />1.TosupportformalandinformalactivitiesattheCommunityCenter <br />2.Todevelopintergenerationalprograms <br />3.Todevelopprogramsforcurrentlyunservedseniors,includingͻĬğĬǤĬƚƚƒĻƩƭͼand <br />homeboundseniors <br /> <br />
