MINUTES for: BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING Wednesday, April 16, 7:00 P.M. Parker Room, Town Hall Building 1625 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington, MA Board of Health Members in Attendance: Burt Perlmutter, MD, John J. Flynn, J.D., Sharon MacKenzie R.N., CCM, David S. Geller, M.D Health Division Attendees: Gerard F. Cody, Health Director, Linda Rainville, Clerk Meeting called to order at 7:01 p.m. 1.) Minutes of March 19, 2014 . approved as written 2.) Review of revised Smoking and Youth Access Regulation for adoption Mr. Cody spoke to the Board regarding several Bylaws in Chapter 97 that are related to smoking and the tobacco purchase age which is set at 18 years of age. There is a Special Town Meeting scheduled for June. Mr. Cody revealed that the Town Legal Council recommended that the BOH not adopt the updated changes to the BOH regulation until the Bylaws in Chapter 97 are updated or completely dismissed at Town Meeting. There may be a special Town Meeting in June and Mr. Cody was planning to request that this matter be placed on the agenda. Mr. Flynn mentioned his concern regarding including the ban of Blunt Wraps. There was a discussion about obtaining more information about the ban of Blunt Wraps. A motion was made to postpone the vote on the Tobacco Regulation Change. A motion was approved which stated in part that a full Board should be present to show unison when it comes time to vote on the updated BOH regulation. 3.) Community Health a.) Healthy Community CHNA grant update b.) Tick Disease awareness, Lexington resident, Elisa Abel spoke to the Board regarding the Tick Task Force. She explained that several towns are involved with the Task Force, including Acton, Bedford, Carlisle, Concord and Weston. Ms Abel told the Board that flyers and brochures are available in several places in Lexington. c.) Second Hand Smoke in Multi Unit Housing MAPC, grant: Mr. Cody informed the Board that several meetings with the contractor, Jeanine Flaherty have taken place and that posters / pamphlets have been developed to promote the program. 4.) Environmental Health a.) Food Inspection Program 1) Residential Kitchen Permit Ralinda Young, 27 Oakland Did not appear will be on the June Agenda 2) Artistry on the Green Inn at Hastings Park, 2027 Mass Ave.
