<br />Selectmen’s Meeting <br />January 6, 2014 <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Monday, January 6, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. <br />in the Selectmen Meeting Room of the Town Office Building. Chairman Mauger, Mr. Kelley, <br />Mr. Cohen, Mr. Manz and Mr. Pato; Mr. Valente, Town Manager; and Ms. Pease, Executive <br />Clerk, were present. <br /> <br />Town Manager Report <br /> <br />Mr. Valente reported on two items: <br /> <br /> <br />1.Water damage to the Town Office Building because of water damage from a frozen pipe <br />in Recreation, Finance, Assessor and the hall way outside the Town Manager’s offices. <br />Clarke School also had water damage to the Guidance and Administration offices. <br /> <br />2.Thanking the Pubic Works employees who worked 32 hours straight to deal with the <br />snowstorm. The Town Manager also reported that he received several emails from <br />residents thanking the employees for their great work. <br /> <br />Mr. Kelley also thanked the Public Works employees for their outstanding work. <br /> <br />Dr. Ash also thanked the Public Works employees for their work in getting the schools cleared of <br />snow. He appreciates the information he receives at 4:00 a.m. from public works employees to <br />help make the decision to open schools or not. <br /> <br />Approve Request of School Committee – Submit Statement of Interest to MSBA for Hastings <br />School <br /> <br />Ms. Coppe, Chairman of the School Committee, reported that the School Committee voted to <br />submit the Statement of Interest to MSBA for Hastings School on December 19, 2013. <br /> <br />Dr. Ash, Superintendent of Schools, stated that they want to submit this request to the MSBA for <br />Hastings School, which is the last elementary school to be renovated. They hope the school will <br />qualify for 31-34% reimbursement under category 2 (elimination of existing severe <br />overcrowding). <br /> <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted 5-0 to authorize Superintendent to submit to <br />the Massachusetts School Building Authority the Statement of Interest dated January 14, 2014, <br />for the Hastings Elementary School located at 7 Crosby Road, Lexington, Massachusetts, 02421 <br />which describes and explains the following deficiencies and the priority category(s) for which <br />the Lexington Public Schools may be invited to apply to the Massachusetts School Building <br />Authority in the future: <br /> <br /> <br />
