There was much participation <br />by young people at the microphone. LexMedia will broadcast the <br />entire event and tapes are available at Cary Library. <br />Charlotte reported that the Board of Selectmen approved the two town <br />agreement with Bedford regarding Veterans Services. The plan gives <br />Lexington's VSO (Ryan Lennon) the title of district director: he will <br />oversee Veterans' affairs in both towns. Lennon will train and <br />supervise a part -time backup VSO. This arrangement is in <br />compliance with GL115 and Bedford will contribute toward Lennon's <br />salary. There are still space problems for the VSO but Charlotte <br />reported Ryan has made good use of a small office for interviews. <br />Regarding Transportation Services, Emily reported the use <br />of Lexpress is up 73 %y there were 165 Taxi voucher purchases which <br />include the young and disabled. M-4 <br />C: <br />The Dana Home Foundation has sent out a request for proposals <br />specific to the senior population. Requests can range from $5K to <br />$50K. Staff is not certain at this meeting whether there is time this <br />year to make a request. <br />Much staff effort has gone into defining the open position regarding <br />youth services. Although there has been an increase in the caseload <br />of fragile families, there is a significant need for coordination with <br />town departments relative to the needs of young people.
