<br />Selectmen’s Meeting <br />May 6, 2013 <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Monday, May 6, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. in <br />the Selectmen Meeting Room of the Town Office Building. Chairman Mauger, Mr. Kelley, Mr. <br />Cohen; Mr. Manz; and Mr. Pato; Mr. Valente, Town Manager; and Ms. Pease, Executive Clerk, <br />were present. <br /> <br />Reorganization of the Board <br /> <br />The first order of business was the election of a Chairman. Mr. Cohen nominated Ms. <br />Mauger and there were no further nominations. <br /> <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted 4-0-1 (Mauger abstained) to appoint Ms. <br />Mauger as Chairman of the Board of Selectmen effective immediately. <br /> <br />Public Comment <br /> <br />Ms. Smith, representing the Old Time Baseball game and clinic, had each Selectman and Mr. <br />Valente pick the winning Bat Boys and Bat Girls for the Old Time Baseball Games. The games <br />will be on Sunday, May 26. The event is free; merchandise can be purchased at the event or at <br />the Crafty Yankee and Michelson Shoes. <br /> <br />Mr. Pressman, 22 Locust Avenue, urged the Board to consider affordable housing options for the <br />33 Marrett Road property. Ms. Mauger said the Board would take the comment under <br />advisement. <br /> <br />Selectmen Concerns and Liaison Reports <br /> <br />Mr. Manz is impressed with how Lexington volunteers and DPW staff work so well together. <br />He attended several events that were put together by volunteers with the help of DPW staff, <br />th <br />including: Opening Day for Little League Baseball, the 300 table tennis competition, <br />Revolutionary Revelry May Day events on Depot Square, the Field and Garden Club work in <br />Depot Square and the many traffic islands around town. <br /> <br />Mr. Cohen attended the Special Olympics, which showed how wonderful the kids are in <br />Lexington. He also attended the High School play “Miss Saigon” which was very well done. <br /> <br />Town Manager Report <br /> <br />Mr. Valente reported on four items: <br /> <br /> <br />1.The federal government declared the February blizzard a disaster event; the Town will be <br />eligible for a 75 percent reimbursement of its costs. <br /> <br />2.The Human Services Department received a $25,500 grant from the Dana Home <br />Foundation for senior outreach services. <br /> <br />
