Lexington Council on the Arts Agenda Minutes October 1, 2012 Lexington Arts and Crafts Society Present: Zoe Perry Wood, Chair; Jan Gopelrud; Victoria Campos, secretary; Emily Passman; Regie Gibson; Chris Kyle, Treasurer; Diamond Hayes; Barbara Lucas(LOS), guest; Tom Griffiths (Munroe Center for the Arts), guest. Zoe called the meeting to order at 7:20pm. Reggie made a motion to accept Sept. minutes; Approved. Topics Discussed: • Tom presented info about signage for Munroe Center for the Arts. Already approved by Historic District Commission (HDC) and Board of Appeals. Emily and Chris expressed grave concerns about the design of the sign —esp. with regards to its visibility from the road. Emily proposed redesigning and resubmitting the sign to the HDC. Tom proposed presenting the new version as an "alternate rendering." The redesign committee to be composed of Emily Passman and Chris Kyle and offer to have a new design by the next LCA meeting in November. Munroe Center Board meeting on 4th Tuesday of the Month (6:30pm); new design must be voted on then. LCA members encouraged to attend. • Zoe brought up to Tom the LCA's desire to use the usable space at Munroe as a gallery space for LCA. • Zoe proposed idea of creating a series of Artists' Talks (using Sommerville as an example) that would be connected with LOS, LAC (composed of 9 guilds) and Munroe. • Barbara (as rep for Lexington Open Studios) emphasized the notion of a collaborative relationship with the LCA • Barbara proposed LCA having a "themed funding cycle" and having an Open Forum in which community invited to talk about their vision for the arts in Lexington • Regie contacted Sean Hagan in Lexington Public Schools Fine Arts to recruit student interns for LCA. • Jan will be in charge of LCA membership. We have currently two potential members: Meg and Nicholas. Jan also to find out who needs to take the MCC test. • Zoe showed us the promo she designed for the 2012 -13 LCA grant applications; Emily submitted to Minuteman and Colonial Times • Zoe presented an update on LCA website • Read surveys taken during LOS Meeting adjourned at 9pm. Next meeting November 5, 2012 at Munroe.
