<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Lexington Board of Health Meeting, Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. <br />Town Office Building, Room G-15, 1625 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington, MA <br /> <br />Board of Health Attendees: Wendy Heiger-Bernays, Chair; Sharon MacKenzie; <br />Burt Perlmutter; John J. Flynn <br />Health Department Attendees: Gerard F. Cody, Health Director; Ann Belliveau, Health <br />Clerk/Office Manager <br /> <br />Wendy Heiger-Bernays called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />At 7:05 p.m. Heiger-Bernays motioned to go into executive session to discuss the leasing <br />of the town-owned Hartwell Avenue Compost facility site. She declared that holding an <br />open session on this matter may have a detrimental effect on the Town’s negotiating <br />position. Further, upon conclusion of the executive session, the Board of Health will <br />reconvene in open session. Perlmutter seconded and with a roll call of MacKenzie and <br />Flynn in the affirmative. <br /> <br />At 9:00 p.m., the Board reconvened into open session. <br />. <br />The Board reviewed the minutes of July 11, 2012. Perlmutter motioned to accept the <br />minutes as written. MacKenzie seconded. All approved. <br /> <br />Community Health Update/Report – The Board reviewed the Community Health Report <br />for September 2012 prepared by David Neylon, R.N., and follow-ups for the eight (8) <br />communicable diseases had been done in a timely manner. <br /> <br />Emergency Preparedness – The Board reviewed the Emergency Preparedness Report for <br />September 2012. Cody advised the Board about the Sheltering Table Top Exercise which <br />was held on July 13, 2012, dealing with best practices for emergency sheltering. The <br />exercise was facilitated by the Carpathia Group and participants included Police, Fire, <br />Housing Authority, local healthcare providers, Human Services Dept., Public Facilities, <br />Public Schools, Lexington MRC members, nursing homes, local health departments, <br />daycares, religious groups, and apartment complexes. <br /> <br />Cody also informed the Board that Lexington was fortunate to participate in a grant <br />program to provide awareness training for First Responders and Public Health involving <br />the needs of individuals with disabilities during a large scale emergency. As a result of <br />this training, sheltering plans will be updated to include these specific needs. <br /> <br />Perlmutter motioned to adjourn. MacKenzie seconded.
