<br />Lexington Council for the Arts (LCA) <br />Minutes for Meeting May, 6, 2008 <br />Room 111, Town Office Building <br /> <br /> Present: Barbara Ciampa, Co-Chair; Louise Cady-Fernandes; Janet Post, Secretary;Jackie Hawkinson; <br />Mary Trometer,Treasure; Zoe Perry Wood, Co-Chair; Myron Rosenblum; Jan Goplerud <br /> <br />Absent: Sirarpi Heghinian Walzser; Jonathan Cue; Bill Janowitz <br /> <br />Call to Order <br /> Zoe Perry Wood called the meeting to order at 7:14 PM <br />Secretary's Report <br /> The minutes for the April ‘08 meeting were accepted. <br />Treasurer's Report <br /> There is a balance of $ 11,476.98 in the treasury. The treasurer's report was accepted. <br /> Grant Business: <br />Zoe presented the flyer that will be distributed informing the public about our grant money being <br />available and how to apply for funding by the 10/15/08 deadline. We are also going to hand them out at <br />our Discovery Day table. <br /> <br />New Business: <br />Art Walk: Janet and Louise chose 8 pieces of art for our Art Hunt at the Society of Arts and Crafts last <br />week. Louise, Mary and Janet met to decide on the clues for the art. Jan is going to type up the game for <br />us. We may put pictures of some of the artwork, ones not in the hunt, on the Lexington Wicked Local <br />website. Also discussed was how to distribute the Art Hunt flyer/game & general logistics of <br />implementing it. <br /> <br />· Discovery Day: Jackie will oversee our table from 10 AM- noon. Barbara will be there from noon- <br />2:00. We still need someone to be at our table from 2:00-4:00 PM. <br /> <br />th <br />· October 4 there will be a program at the National Heritage Museum sponsored by the MCC. <br />Statewide local cultural councils will be invited and we have been asked to host the reception from 6 to 8 <br />PM. Barbara will connect with the MCC program planner for the event for more information. She also <br />made a connection with the new hotel in town for some financial support to our Arts Council. <br /> <br />· Website: The LCA website is a work in progress and will be discussed further at the next meeting <br />after the subcommittee has a chance to meet. <br /> <br />· The Dimmock Award is presented at the end of May at the LHS Pops. We will write a check for <br />$250 for the LHS recipient of the award. <br /> <br />· John Root was awarded a grant by us and was pictured in the Lexington Minuteman last week. <br />There wasn’t any mention of the LCA in the paper, which is required by the recipient to mention. <br /> <br />Business for Next Meeting <br />· Website update <br /> · Report on the Art Hunt, Discovery Day and Dimmock award. <br /> * Role of LCA for 10/4/08 event at NHM <br /> Adjournment <br />nd <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 PM.
