<br />Lexington Board of Health, January 11, 2006, Meeting Minutes <br />Police Guard Room, Police Station, 1575 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington, MA <br /> <br />Attendees: <br /> <br />Board of Health: Wendy Heiger-Bernays, Chair; Burt Perlmutter; Sharon MacKenzie, Deborah <br />Thompson <br /> <br />Health Department: Derek Fullerton, Ann Belliveau <br /> <br />Public: Judith Feldman <br /> <br />The meeting began at 7:05 PM. There was no public participation. <br /> <br />Heiger-Bernays asked the Board to review the minutes of December 7, 2005. <br /> <br />Heiger-Bernays said the Board had talked about developing the minutes so as that there were <br />agenda items or actions items. <br />Tegan Evans, a MPH student at Boston University, presented a proposal for education of multi- <br />family landlords and pesticide use. <br /> <br />Donald V. Rivard of Rivard’s Resources IPM, Environmental Management is interested in a <br />program presented by Ms. Evans. Heiger-Bernays would like Mr. Rivard to present a proposal <br />to the Board. <br /> <br />Fullerton advised the Board of a mutual aid plan developed as a draft by DPH. Fullerton will <br />present to the Board for adoption. <br /> <br />Fullerton will bring to the January 2006 meeting, an Emergency Operations Plan for adoption <br />and signoff by the Board of Health. <br /> <br />Heiger-Bernays proposed to the Board an emergency preparedness meeting to discuss the <br />Keyspan incident and then expand to the flu pandemic. Heiger-Bernays recommended meeting <br />on Wednesday, January 25, 2006. The Board agreed. <br /> <br />Heiger-Bernays also recommended for the future, an emergency planning session to include the <br />Selectmen, Fire, Police and the public, in conjunction with other towns. <br /> <br />Cynthia Piltch appeared before the Board requesting a home based massage establishment as <br />well as a traveling massage therapy permit. The Board granted Ms. Piltch the home based <br />massage establishment and the traveling message therapy permit. <br /> <br />Fullerton began a discussion concerning the Estabrook School indoor air quality recently <br />conducted. Fullerton said there is no imminent health hazard at the present time. The HVAC <br />system at Estabrook has already been evaluated and will be corrected during the school holiday <br />vacation. Most of the problems are with air circulation. Heiger-Bernays asked if we should <br />check all schools for house keeping issues. Perlmutter asked if the schools check ceiling tiles for <br />mold. Fullerton will make up a housekeeping list for all the schools. <br /> <br />MacKenzie would like to represent the Board of Health as a liaison to the Sidewalk Committee. <br /> <br />Fullerton informed the Board that the idling pamphlets have been prepared and ready to be <br />distributed. He also mentioned that 2 out of 3 grants have been approved with the EPA grant <br />pending. <br /> <br />
