ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE (Describe important architectural features and <br /> evaluate in terms of other buildings within the community.) <br /> This house, on a residential street where the other houses are much more <br /> recent, has a distinctive fieldstone foundation, porch and chimney. There -is a <br /> three-sided bay window on the north (not shown in the photo,; , a small rear ell <br /> on that side, and another small ell on the south next to the chimney. The un- <br /> usual cave-like garage, which is built into the side of the hill using the same <br /> kind of fieldstone as the house, has a decorative stone projecting up in the <br /> center front. <br /> HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE (Explain the role owners played in local or state <br /> history and how the building relates to the development of the community.) <br /> This house was built in the 1930s by the Potters, the present owners. They <br /> also owned 52 acres on the other side of Walnut Street that included a piggery <br /> and the historic Jameson house.
