W. <br /> Muzzey(see also 16, 20, 23 &25 Oakland Street). On June 17, 1887 the Lexington Minute-man reported that"Mr. A.E. <br /> Locke has commenced operations for the building of his new house on Oakland street. Mr. McKinnon is the contractor". <br /> About a month later the paper noted"The foundation for Mr.A.E. Locke's house,which is in the course of erection on <br /> Oakland street, is almost completed and will be ready before many days for the superstructure. The location is a very <br /> sightly and desirable one, on land opposite the residence of Mr. Bliss. Mr. Ed.McNamara is the contractor for the <br /> foundation work and Mr. McKinnon is the builder"(Lexington Minute-man,July 22, 1887). <br /> This house was constructed by Alonzo E. Locke in anticipation of his wedding to Alice Hastings Butters which took <br /> place on November 17, 1887. In 1910 the Locke household included Mr. and Mrs. Locke,their three sons and three <br /> servants. Mrs. Locke was still living in the house in 1932. The house was vacant in 1942. Later owners included <br /> William VanVliet and J.
