BUILDING FORM (83 North Hancock Street) <br /> ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION <br /> Describe architectural features. Evaluate the characteristics of the building in terms of other buildings within the <br /> community. <br /> Located roughly opposite Linmoor Terrace, 83 North Hancock Street is a modest, early 20th century, 1 1/2-story,hip-roofed <br /> dwelling which is set above a rusticated concrete block foundation and covered in stucco. The house is rectangular in plan <br /> and oriented with its narrow end to the street, largely obscured by plantings. The asphalt-shingled hip roof displays exposed <br /> rafters and each of the long side slopes has a four-bay long, hip roof dormer sheathed in wood shingles with the same exposed <br /> rafter detail. <br /> The main entrance to the house is located at the front right corner of the house and consists of a recessed porch, now <br /> screened. The predominant window is a 6/1 sash. A secondary entrance and deck is located at the rear. <br /> HISTORICAL NARRATIVE <br /> Describe the history of the building. Explain its associations with local (or state) history. Include uses of the building and <br /> the�ole(s) the owners/occupants played within the community. <br /> Thi)house was constructed for Frank and Ina Cutter in 1916. Town lists indicate that the Cutters were living at 5 Hancock <br /> Street in 1916 and on North Hancock in 1917. The 1917 Town Valuation lists gives the house a value of$3000. Frank <br /> Cutter was employed as a civil engineer and continued to live here until about 1940.
