ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE (Describe important architectural features and
evaluate in terms of other buildings within the community.)
Part of a community of contemporary homes designed and developed by an
architectural firm, this house, like its neighbors is an example of the International
Style and was designed to meet the client's needs (see Moon Hill area form) . In
this case, the original house had a partial basement with above-grade windows. Over
this were the bedrooms, including a large one for children that could be divided in
the future. The living area was down a level from the bedrooms; the continuous roof
line was achieved by making the ceiling heights in the former area higher than those
in the latter.
HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE (Explain the role owners played in local or state
history and how the building relates to the development of the community.)
This house was designed by The Architects Collaborative (TAC) for their Six
Moon Hill development (see Moon Hill area form) .
BIBLIOGRAPHY and/or REFERENCES (name of publication, author, date and publisher)
"House: Lexington, Massachusetts," journal unknown, May 1951, pp. -73.
G
10M - 7/82
