HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-05-10-REC-min (Lincoln Park Subcommittee)LINCOLN PARK SUB - COMMITTEE Minutes May 10, 2012 4:30 pm Present — David Williams, Chairman, Lynne Wilson, Nell Walker, Brian Kelley, Parker Hirtle Also present — Wendy Rudner, Recreation, Wesley Wirth, Landscape Architect, Bob Barnard, Landscape Contractor, Vanessa Tropeano, Parterre, Bob Pressman Mr. Williams opened the meeting at 4:35. Mr. Barnard introduced Ms. Tropeano. The committee discussed the proposal for maintenance presented by Mr. Barnard. He explained that Ms. Tropeano will be on site for approximately one hour each time Mr. Barnard's landscape crew was working. In addition, one Parterre employee will work with Mr. Barnard's crew at each visit. There was a lengthy discussion about maintenance and possible additional plantings. Motion — Lynne Wilson moved to hire Barnard Landscape Contractor for Lincoln Park maintenance. Brian Kelley seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Dog signs — Mr. Williams showed the committee the new signs. There was a discussion about locating the signs. Bathrooms — Mr. Kelley opened the discussion about the fact that the donations received through the Lions Club will not be tax deductible. Therefore, Mr. Williams asked that large donations come to the Lincoln Park Committee. Levels of contributions were discussed. Mr. Kelley told the group that LexFun had agreed to assist in soliciting donations from businesses, etc. Wesley presented the text for the proposed signs at the entrances and at the podium area. He also said that Weston Nurseries will replace the azaleas that were lost over the winter. The meeting was adjourned at 4:35. The next meeting will be on May 31, 2012, at 4 pm. Wi on LINCOLN PARK SUB - COMMITTEE MINUTES May 31, 2012 Present — David Williams, Chairman, Lynne Wilson, Brian Kelley Also present —Wendy Rudner, Recreation, Bob Pressman David Williams opened the meeting at 4:10. He reported that Bob Barnard had hired Josh Pearlstein on a trial basis. Mr. Barnard started work at the Park three days ago. There was a discussion about talking to DPW, Chris Filadoro, about mulching and mowing. Mr. Kelley said that the area around the evergreens at the Lincoln St. entrance needed mowing. David and Lynne should follow up. There was a question about whether or not the water had been turned on — it has. The hoses are at Nell Walker's house. Mr. Kelley reported on the progress of the fundraising for the bathrooms. He is approaching lacross , Little League, soccer, LUSC and LexFun. He has some commitments but not enough money to start construction as of yet. He will talk to Doug Lucente of the Lions Club as to whether a separate account has been set up. LexFun would like to set up a website which they feel would work well for donations. He will also contact the Booster Clubs. He needs a paragraph about the park background for LexFun. David will work on this. David will also set up a meeting -with Laurie Atwater of the Colonial Times for Brian, and will speak to the Minuteman. There was discussion about where donations should ultimately go. They need to go the Board of Selectmen. The Committee had additional discussion about the funding and ways to raise the needed money.
