Fund for Lexington <br />Meeting Minutes <br />Tuesday, May 17, 2005 <br />Present: Norman Cohen, Richard Pagett, Dan Lucas, David Walsh, Reverend Colletti, <br />Lauren MacNeil, and Kelly Magee <br />1. Norman Cohen was nominated and appointed by members as the board's new chair. <br />2. A review of current funds available was discussed. Concerns were identified around <br />current balance, and it was suggested that financial statements for the past three fiscal <br />years be reviewed. Discussion also included the importance of timing annual appeal in <br />November. <br />3. Social Services staff reported on Human Services Fund. Since December 1, 2004 <br />through present, $1, 534.12 has been awarded from Human Services Fund. <br />Replenishment of the fund was discussed and the board voted to approve replenishment <br />of $5,000 at this time. <br />Questions arose regarding replenishment of funds through Public Trust. Social Services <br />staff will contact David Williams regarding this process and report back at the next <br />meeting. <br />Members voted to provide financial assistance for Fund for Lexington request for <br />$1, 297.74, for payment of an outstanding oil and electric bill. In review of case <br />presentation, a request was made that any future Fund for Lexington requests include <br />both prior requests for financial assistance, as well as plan to address potential ongoing <br />financial difficulties. Social Services noted to include this in future documentation. <br />4. Requests: <br />a. Food Pantry - - -up to $3,000-APPROVED. Norman will contact Carolyn <br />Wortman to discuss how much funds are needed. <br />b. East Lexington Holiday Decorations - - -$1, 200 -- APPROVED <br />c. Lexington Center Committee - -- $2,500 for barrel plantings -- APPROVED <br />5. Members were pleased to receive expressions of thanks from recipients of 2004 <br />Holiday programs. <br />Meeting minutes for November 30, 2004 were approved. <br />Next meeting is scheduled for September 20, 2005. <br />
