MINUTES <br />FUND FOR LEXINGTON BOARD <br />March 17, 2009 <br />4:30 p.m., Selectmen's Office, Town Office Building <br />PRESENT: Norman Cohen, George Burnell, Dan Lucas, Alan Wrigley, and Barbara Deveau <br />1. Approximate amount of money available as of 2/28/09: Income: $38,700.00 <br />Principal: $56,355.00 <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted 4 -0 that the $50,000 gift from the Estate of <br />Leonard F. Milgate shall be used to create an endowment for the Fund for Lexington to be under <br />the control of the Trustees of the Public Trusts with 50% of the earnings to be returned to the <br />endowment fund and 50% to be available for distribution. <br />2. Human Services Report: <br />a. Barbara Deveau gave the report of the Human Services Department for the period December <br />2, 2008 to March 17, 2009. She pointed out that Lexington citizens could use outside fuel <br />assistance agencies to meet their heating needs. Now that the worst of the winter is over, <br />there may be an increase in shut -off notices issued by the utility companies. <br />3. Other Issues <br />a. Request from ArtSpan- Munroe - $7,185. Voted 4 -0 not to fund. <br />b. Request — Center Barrels - $3,500. APPROVED $2,800 4 -0. <br />c. The Board was pleased to receive a number of thank you notes for the holiday gift cards. <br />4. The minutes of December 2, 2008 were approved 4 -0. <br />5. The next meeting will be June 23, 2009. <br />
