BOA Meeting September 22, 2011 4 <br /> <br />Minutes of the Lexington Zoning Board of Appeals <br />Selectmen’s Meeting Room, Lexington Town Hall <br />September 22, 2011 <br /> <br />Board Members Present: Chairman - Nyles N. Barnert, John J. McWeeney, David G. Williams, <br />Carolyn C. Wilson and Martha C. Wood <br /> <br />Staff Present: Dianne Cornaro, Clerk and Zoning Administrator, David George <br /> <br />Petition Address: 231 Bedford Street, Map 71, Lot 33 <br /> <br />Petitioner submitted the following with the application for hearing: nature and justification of <br />request, topographic plan, building plans, photographs and 3 letters of support. <br /> <br />Prior to the hearing, the petition and supporting data were reviewed by the Building <br />Commissioner, Conservation Administrator, Town Engineer, Health Director, Board of <br />Selectmen, the Zoning Administrator, the Planning Director and the Historic Districts <br />Commission Clerk. Comments were received from the Conservation Administrator and the <br />Zoning Administrator. <br /> <br />The Chairman opened the hearing at 7:40 pm by reading the legal notice and described <br />information received from the petitioner relative to the petition. <br /> <br />The applicant, Mary McCallum, presented the petition. <br /> <br />The applicant is requesting a special permit in accordance with the Zoning By-Law section <br />135-78D to allow for more or larger signs than are permitted by right. She is looking to have 2 <br />temporary signs: 1) A 2 ft x 3 ft sandwich board and 2) An 18 inch by 6 ft banner type sign. <br /> <br />The applicant is also requesting a waiver from the plot plan submittal requirements. <br /> <br />A Board member asked what signs were there now; if she was on the second floor and does the <br />landlord have any issues with the signs. <br /> <br />A Board member had hesitations on approving Banner signs; she did not want to set <br />precedents. <br /> <br />Another Board member spoke of banner signs that have been approved in the past. <br /> <br />There was discussion between the Board and the applicant regarding awning signs over the <br />windows, the banner, sandwich boards and the Landlord’s signs. <br /> <br />The Chairman told the applicant in the past the Board has not allowed for any signs that had <br />advertising on them. <br /> <br />There were no questions from the audience. <br /> <br />No one spoke in favor or in opposition to the petition. <br /> <br /> <br />
