Meeting Minutes Community Center Task Force Meeting October 17, 2011 Date: Members in Laura Hussong, chair Attendance: Jim Goell, vice chair Sophia Ho, Betty Borghesani, Florence Koplow, Lisah Rhodes Meeting Time / Ellen Stone Room Location Cary Memorial Hall Liaisons in Gail Fields, HSvcs Attendance: Jane Trudeau, FCOA Nancy Adler, L WV Stephanie Lawrence,HSvcs Absent: Tim Dugan Guest: The meeting began by discussing the working paper of data taken from meetings with Human Services, Recreation Department, Cary Library and Ellen McDonald. We discussed how to organize the data, coming up with some general categories of topics that are relevant to our effort. These are : intergenerational, transportation, communication, town spirit, drop -in center, diverse groups, fitness, cultural/arts, recreation, isolation. We must also remember that strong leadership is so important to successful programs, especially for teens. One comment from a site visit to Harwich: their community center is like "the family room of Harwich" and that resonated with all of us. We reviewed a proposed timeline for the committee work. We will create an unfiltered wishlist at our dreaming session. We have to also create a list of stakeholders to invite to other focus groups. We each should do outreach for interested parties. Put something in Patch, Colonial Times, Minuteman? Laura will contact 2020 Vision group and see if there is an opportunity to coordinate. Lisah talked about ways to use gmail accounts to share data we are collecting and enable us to keep and update it centrally. Dreaming session: one member can't come. Will see if everyone could make it a few days later, but don't want to pus off our dates too much. Lisah and Laura will determine. The meeting adjourned at 9:10 PM. The next meeting of the CCTF is scheduled for Thursday, October 27 at 7:30 pm, location TBD.
