Meeting Minutes <br />Community Center Task Force <br />Meeting <br />October 6, 2011 <br />Meeting Time / <br />7:3 0 pm <br />Date: <br />Location <br />Ellen Stone room, Cary <br />Hall <br />Members in <br />Laura Hussong, chair <br />Liaisons in <br />Gail Fields, HSvcs <br />Attendance: <br />Jim Goell, vice chair <br />Attendance: <br />Jane Trudeau, FCOA <br />Betty Borghesani <br />Nancy Adler, LWV <br />Florence Koplow <br />Chris Ammer, FoCaryLib <br />Lisah Rhodes <br />Sophia Ho <br />Absent: <br />Guest: <br />Dan Fenn, Hope Place <br />The committee voted unanimously to approve the minutes of the September 13, 2011 meeting as <br />corrected, and the minutes of the September 27, 2011 meeting. <br />Teen Participation: Tim Dugan has contacted Laura Lasa (associate principal of LHS) about <br />getting a liaison to our committee from LHS. <br />LWV Community Conversation at St. Brigid Parish was on September 27, 2011. What themes <br />came out of the tables there and what do we think? <br />• Building community <br />• Contact /relationships <br />• Intergenerational activities: Older generation would like interaction with younger <br />groups, but teens are more interested in specific projects such as tutoring, job shadowing, <br />role modeling. <br />• Less structured contacts such as block parties, coffees, drop -in opportunities for adults <br />and youth. <br />• How to feel invited to participate? Sophia H. has taken it upon herself to increase <br />participation in community activities among her sphere of influence, and has already met <br />with success. <br />• Teens and seniors need space, including private meeting rooms <br />• Transportation needs were often mentioned <br />• Utilizing town center businesses to keep a vibrant center. <br />Tasks for CCTF <br />• Work with volunteer professional to plan focus groups <br />• Summarize the data collected so far <br />The meeting adjourned at 9:10 PM. The next meeting of the CCTF is scheduled for October <br />17 at 7:30 pm, in the Ellen Stone Room of Cary Hall. <br />
