Transportation Advisory Committee <br />Date: April 26, 2011 <br />Members Present: Sara Arnold, Elaine Dratch, Larry Link, Peter Levy, Francine Stieglitz <br />Members Absent: Sally Castleman, Bill Levison <br />Liaison: Nancy Adler, Council of Aging <br />Staff: Gail Wagner <br />TAC meeting minutes for April 11, 2011 were voted on and approved with edits. <br />Lexpress Updates <br />➢ March riders were 67 less than last year. Student riders dropped when after school Spring <br />sports started. <br />➢ As of March 31, there is a total gain of 408 riders compared to last year. <br />➢ Past efforts by TAC members and staff to monitor drivers' accuracy in tracking riders <br />were reviewed. <br />➢ Drivers tracked riders on the Route 4 extension (Concord Avenue west of Waltham <br />Street) the week of April 11. Riders for this period totaled 8. When tracked last fall for a <br />week, riders totaled 34. Francine will speak to Michael Martignetti who requested the <br />Route 4 extension to identify possible causes for rider reduction. <br />➢ Gail will submit to TAC schedule changes for consideration to take effect July 1, 2011. <br />School Dept's discussion of Lexpress tickets as part of LHS school bus pass <br />➢ A LHS follow -up survey has been developed by the School Dept to determine level of <br />interest in incorporating Lexpress tickets for use on 4pm to 6pm routes as part of a school <br />bus pass. <br />➢ Survey questions were submitted to TAC members prior to the meeting. <br />➢ TAC requests the School Dept clarify wording to include directives "to check off all that <br />apply" so that responses from families with more than one LHS student will be captured. <br />➢ TAC objects to any Lexpress ticket option worded as "no cost." The School Dept. will be <br />asked to use the term "low cost." <br />➢ Gail will forward TAC's survey edits to Elaine Celi, School Bus Coordinator. <br />Pilot Pont -to -Point Service between Housing Villages and Senior Center <br />➢ Sara presented pilot program and request for 25¢ fare to the Board of Selectmen on April <br />25. BOS unanimously supported pilot and gave approval to extend through July if more <br />time is needed to evaluate. <br />➢ Housing Authority will deliver flyers to Village residents. Larry presented town wide <br />outlets to publicize that he will pursue. <br />MBTA Meeting Arranged by Lexington State Representative <br />➢ Meeting will be held May 10 at the State House. Sara will represent TAC. Sara <br />developed a summary statement previously sent to TAC members. Rep. Kaufman will be <br />sent the statement prior to the meeting. <br />Patriots Parade — April 18 <br />➢ Sara and Peter represented TAC.
