<br />…A member mentioned that there is a trash can at Camillia Way with the “no <br />riding on sidewalks” sign on it. <br /> <br />Record of the Discussions of Friends of Lexington Bikeways <br /> <br />Treasurer’s report: <br /> Bob Hausslein was not present to report, but sent a note <br />saying, “there is $9672.30 total between our new account at Cambridge Savings <br />and what is in the town account.” <br /> <br />Bikeway Counts <br />: Margaret Stebbins reported that the count on Saturday, May 14, <br />went well, although it was a chilly and cloudy day. A total of 2,585 trips were <br />counted during the 12-hour period, including 1,826 cyclists. The Tuesday count <br />was cancelled. <br /> <br />Community Bike Rides <br /> (Saturday, May 14): Laurel led the morning ride, and <br />Stew the afternoon ride. Laurel put together a history of the ride as well as a cue <br />sheet. There were close to 25 riders and much enthusiasm. Parking outside of <br />Ride.Studio.Cafe worked very well. <br /> <br />Bike Donation Day/Discovery Day <br /> (Saturday, May 28) 128 bikes were donated, <br />as well as a bunch of bike parts. Members agreed that it was a worthwhile project <br />and will repeat it next year. <br /> <br />Bike Corral at the Farmers’ Market: <br />Members voted to contribute another $100 <br />to the coupon effort (bringing the FoLB contribution to $200, with the Farmers’ <br />Market staying at $100). The first market corral will be on June 14, followed by <br />one on July 12. <br /> <br />Garlic Mustard Pull on the Bikeway: <br />Stew reported that there were seven <br />leaders from FoLB, and 60 volunteers from Grace Chapel. They pulled weeds <br />between 1 and 4 pm, yielding about 80 trash bags. The area covered was shorter, <br />and the goal was to get all of the garlic mustard pulled up from between Revere <br />Street and Woburn Street. <br /> <br />Bike Racks at Businesses: <br />Jerry reported that Ace Hardware has decided not to <br />purchase a full rack, they offered to pay half if FoLB would pay the other half. <br />Members declined to do this, and suggested that a better spot for a full rack would <br />be in the mall across from Ace Hardware. Jerry also talked about his discussions <br />with the TriCon Sports owner, and said that there are no bike racks at the Great <br />Road Shopping Center (where there is one owner of the entire complex). <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm. <br /> <br /> <br />Upcoming Dates <br /> <br />
