<br />…Laurel questions the wisdom of installing granite curbs perpendicular to the <br />street in front of Luongo’s Farm as it poses a hazard to cyclists. <br /> <br />Record of the Discussions of Friends of Lexington Bikeways <br /> <br />Treasurer’s report: <br /> $10,573.16 <br /> <br />Progress on Incorporation: <br /> Bob is working on paperwork to apply for 501c(3) <br />status. <br /> <br />Bikeway Cleanup: <br /> The clean up went well. The DPW picked up the trash left at <br />various locations. Most litter was collected, pruning was extensive. Garlic <br />mustard is still prevalent. <br /> <br />Bikeway Counts <br />: Margaret Stebbins is organizing volunteers for May 14 and May <br />17. <br /> <br />Community Bike Rides <br /> (Saturday, May 14): Laurel has been working with Ride <br />Studio Café on the route and cue sheet. Laurel is leading the 10:00 a.m. ride and <br />will show conservation maps at each site on the route. Stew is leading the 2:00 <br />p.m. ride. Both are within Lexington. <br /> <br />Bike Donation Day/Discovery Day <br /> (Saturday, May 28) Peggy put together a flyer <br />and Bob, Sandra, and Mary are currently distributing it. Peggy sent out a call for <br />volunteers to help with the donations as well as sit at the Discovery Day booth. <br />Donation location: the 14 Muzzey Street Parking Lot. <br /> <br />Bay State Bike Week <br /> (May 14 – 20) <br /> <br />Other business: <br />…Bob learned that liability insurance for FoLB Inc. would cost between $1,000 and <br />$2,000/year. We were advised always to have participants sign waivers for events <br />and always get insured contractors for work done. <br />…The Grace Chapel Garlic Mustard pull is Sunday, June 5 from 1:00 to 4:00. We <br />will meet behind the center fire station. Captains are: Peggy, Stew, Marita, Jerry, <br />Sandra, Richard Canale, and Bob. <br />…In response to the town’s goal setting initiative, Jerry proposed we begin to look <br />into a bike rental program similar to the one Boston has begun. <br />…Richard suggested that, as part of the Selectmen’s goal setting initiative, we <br />urge that Lexington aspire to become a world-class bicycling town. <br /> <br /> <br />Upcoming Dates <br /> <br /> <br />
