(CONT.) <br /> The General Contractor has filed a claim for an <br /> alleged extra in the amount of $3,795.00 which claim the <br /> Committee through Town Counsel has disputed and the <br /> same is now in arbitration. The Committee is of the <br /> opinion that it should be empowered to expend $43,000 <br /> of the $47,618.80 balance towards the construction, <br /> equipping, and furnishing of the addition to the <br /> Harrington School. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Jason H. Tropeano. <br /> VOTED: That the Maple Street School Building Committee, <br /> appointed under the authority of the vote adopted under <br /> Article 11 of the Warrant for the Special Town Meeting <br /> held on October 5, 1953, be and hereby is authorized on <br /> behalf of the Town to enter into a contract or contracts <br /> for the construction, original equipping and furnishing <br /> of an addition to the Harrington School Building and to <br /> supervise the carrying on of the work; and that the sum <br /> of $121,152.00 be and hereby is appropriated for such <br /> construction, original equipping and' furnishing and that <br /> payment be provided by the transfer of $2,500.00 from the <br /> unexpended balance of the appropriation voted for said <br /> Committee, for plans and specifications for said addition, <br /> under Article 39 of the warrant for the 1957 Annual Town <br /> Meeting; the transfer of 539,000.00 from the unexpended <br /> balance of the appropriation for the construction, orig- <br /> inal equipping and furnishing of the Harrington School <br /> building voted under Article 2 of the warrant for the <br /> Special Town Meeting held on November 22, 1954, the transfer <br /> of $4,006.50 from the unexpended balance of the approp- <br /> riation for preliminary plans and specifications for said <br /> Harrington School building voted under Article 11 of the <br /> warrant for the Special Town Meeting held on October 5, <br /> 1953, the transfer of $645.50 from the Excess and Def- <br /> iciency Account, and the issue of bonds or notes of the <br /> Town for the balance of $75,000.00 and that the Treasurer, <br /> with the approval of the Selectmen, be and he hereby is <br /> authorized to borrow the sum of $75,000.00 under the <br /> authority of Chapter 645 of the Acts of 1948, as amended, <br /> and to issue bonds or notes of the Town therefor, to be <br /> payable in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 44 <br /> of the General Laws, As amended, within a period not <br /> exceed .twenty years. <br /> Carried Unanimously 8:40 P. VOTED: That the Selectmen be and hereby are authorized <br /> on behalf of the Town to purchase, take by eminent domain <br /> or otherwise acquire for school and playground purposes <br /> or for access thereto, the fee, any easement or other <br /> interest in any part or parts or all of the following <br /> parcels of land situated in Lexington: <br /> 1. A parcel situated at or near the intersection of <br /> Hancock and Burlington Streets believed to be owned <br /> by Freeman M. Gray and Stella L. Gray, which is shown. <br /> as Lot D on a plan entitled "Plan of Land in Lexington, <br /> Mass." dated December 22, 1950, L. G. Brackett & Co. <br /> Civil Engineers, recorded,in Middlesex South District <br /> Registry of Deeds as Plan No. 301 of 1951 in Book <br /> 7716, Page 87. <br />
