(Recount - September 25, 1982.) '? <br /> As a result of the recount, William Mahoney lost one vote and Helen Metros <br /> gained one vote. This change occurred in Precinct 8 absentee ballot count. <br /> After the final result was announced Counsels Haskell Kessler and Kevin <br /> Feeley remained to check the absentee ballot applications and envelopes and <br /> the rejected absentee ballots (6 rejected). <br /> The Board of Registrars, a majority thereof, approved the rejection of the <br /> six ballots. At this time, Mr. Kassler protested the rejection of two of the <br /> ballots. <br /> Kevin Feeley challenged the validity of all absentee ballots and was asked <br /> by the Board of Registrars to put this in writing. Mr. Feeley presented the <br /> following letter: <br /> 9/25/82 <br /> Registrars of Voters <br /> Town of Lexington <br /> Lexington, MA <br /> Please be advised that I, on behalf of James J. Lyons, Jr., challenge <br /> the validity of and the counting of the absentee ballots, including the <br /> applications for, the affidavits and notarizations of said, same, in the <br /> Primary held September 14, 1982. <br /> Kevin P. Feeley /signed/ <br /> Kevin P. Feeley <br /> Attorney for James J. Lyons, Jr. <br /> As there was nothing on which the Board of Registrars could rule in regards <br /> to the above challenge, the recount was declared completed. <br /> A true copy. <br /> Attest: <br /> lAY enc . <br /> Mary R. McDonough, Town Clerk <br /> Joan N. L. Collins, 8 Oxbow Road, resigned as a Town Meeting Member <br /> from Precinct 9 effective October 12, 1982. <br /> James E. Cosgrove, 307 Wood Street, received the next highest number of <br /> votes as a defeated candidate for Town Meeting Member from Precinct 9 at <br /> the Annual Town Election held March 1, 1982. As of October 28, 1982, <br /> Mr. Cosgrove filed his acceptance of the position of Town Meeting Member <br /> from Precinct 9 to fill the vacancyau 7d by the resignation of Mrs. Collins. <br /> This term will expire in March 1983. — <br />
