<br /> <br />th <br />Lexington 300 Anniversary Celebration Committee <br /> <br />Meeting Minutes <br />June 24, 2010 <br />Attending: Susan Rockwell, Donna Hooper, Cindy Savage, Richard Kollen <br />Absent: Suzie Barry, Town Celebrations Committee <br /> <br />The Lexington 300 Anniversary Celebration Committee met at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, <br />th <br />June 24, 2010 in Room 111, Town Office Building., 1625 Massachusetts Ave. <br />Candidates for appointment also attending: Van Seasholes, Denise Dube. <br /> <br />Points Discussed: <br />Sue Rockwell introduced Committee member candidates: Van Seasholes, Denise Dube. <br /> <br />Draft letter to be sent to participating community groups was discussed. <br />Interest in seeking corporate membership representation and representation from the <br />Arts community was discussed. Sue will investigate potential membership from the <br />Council for the Arts. <br /> <br />Donna will investigate a possible member from SHIRE. <br /> <br />Community letter – the letter content was discussed. Denise Dube agreed to provide an <br />updated draft for comment. <br />Denise questioned the possibility of producing some type of booklet for the 300 <br />th <br />Anniversary. Dick Kollen further discussion re: turning points in Lexington’s history <br />and thoughts on what to produce, resources available to use, themes, etc. <br /> <br />The importance of involving LexMedia, middle school students, and possibility of <br />creating a web time-line similar to that produced by the Massachusetts Historical <br />Society were discussed. Dick explained the Lexington Education Foundation has <br />provided a grant to the Lexington elementary schools for an initiative in celebrating the <br />300 anniversary. <br />th <br /> <br />Denise suggested a possible retrospective performance that would draw in characters <br />representing significant people/events of the era. <br /> <br />Dick Kollen will provide an introductory video/power-point for the September 21 <br />st <br />community meeting. <br /> <br />The weekend of March 29-30-31, 2013 may be known as ‘Incorporation Weekend’. <br /> <br />Official events of the 2012-2013 celebration should likely require going through a <br />sanctioning process – and have some connection to Lexington’s history. This process <br />should be identified for sharing at the September 21 community meeting. <br />st <br /> <br />Logo – It was suggested a ‘competition’ for the Lexington High School to create the 300 <br />th <br />Anniversary Logo – which might include in some way the town’s logo(s). Sean Hagan, of <br />the Lexington High School Arts Department was suggested as a contact to include with <br />the planning. <br /> <br />Donna suggested the Committee review the records of the Bicentennial Celebration <br />(1975) in the archives and will gather for the next meeting of the Committee. <br /> <br />Donna will pursue with Alan Wrigley the progress in application for the 501 [c] [3]. <br />Nonprofit status. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
