Office Staff: Assistant Town Clerk <br />Dianne Snell, Administrative Assistant Lisa Maguire, Ar- <br />chivist Nasrin Rohani, Municipal Clerks Carmelina Fiore <br />and Karen Kruger. <br />BOARD OF REGISTRARS Appointed for a 3 -year <br />term by the Board of Selectmen: Chair Luanna Devenis <br />(Republican, 2011), Jean Barrett (Republican, 2012), Sarah <br />Warren (Democrat, 2010), and Town Clerk Donna Hooper <br />(Unenrolled). <br />HIGHLIGHTS: <br />• Completed Cary Vault climate control and HVAC sys- <br />tems, funded through Community Preservation Act funds. <br />• Conducted conservation and preservation of Lexing- <br />ton's historic documents through a $ 150,000 Commu- <br />nity Preservation Act appropriation to treat, microfilm <br />and digitize thirty -five volumes and over one hundred <br />documents from the 1700's and 1800's. Volumes consist <br />primarily of Assessor's Valuation and Tax lists (1729- <br />1818), Cemetery records (1847- 1858), Selectmen re- <br />cords (1793-1846), Civil War and WWI Military/ <br />Service ledgers (1861- 1919), Vital Records of births, <br />marriages & deaths (1844- 1864), records of Boards &. <br />Committees (1868- 1903), Chattel Mortgage records <br />(1851 -1927) and Town records (1862 - 1907). <br />• Enhanced organization -wide electronic document man- <br />agement program, with collection and archiving of board <br />and committee meeting minutes and limited posting of <br />such minutes on Town's web site with implementation <br />of Laserfiche document imaging system. <br />• Published Supplement #12 to the Code of Lexington, <br />updating bylaws changes adopted at the 2009 Annual <br />and Special Town Meetings and regulations enacted or <br />updated during 2009. <br />• Annual Town Census updated Lexington's population <br />and verified voter registration rolls, with Annual List of <br />Residents published in June. <br />• Town Clerk's Office continued servicing the community <br />as Agents for the US Department of State, accepting <br />and processing over 580 applications for US Passports. <br />• Town Clerk's Office oversaw appointment notifications; <br />oaths of office, and posting of over 968 public meetings <br />conducted for appointed and elected boards and com- <br />mittee members. <br />• Relocating Precinct 8 poll facility from Fire Headquar- <br />ters to newly constructed Public Services Building C� <br />201 Bedford Street — December. <br />• Electronic payments for dog licenses and vital record re- <br />quests (Fall). <br />• Appointment of Registrar Jean Barrett [R] to replace <br />Gerald Abegg [D] <br />• Postponed March 2 Annual Town Election, to March 9, <br />due to snow storm. <br />• Annual Town Meeting convened on March 23 in Cary <br />Hall/Cary Memorial Building, covering 49 warrant ar- <br />ticles in 10 sessions, dissolved May 6th; Special Town <br />Meeting called for May 6th , dissolved after 2 sessions <br />on May 11th and Special Town Meeting called for No- <br />vember 9th dissolved after 3 sessions on November 18th, <br />primarily for articles on rezoning of property at Hayden <br />Avenue &. Spring Street. <br />• Registrars forwarded recommendations to the Board of <br />Selectmen for annual Election officer appointments. <br />• Special State Primary called for December 8, 2009 for <br />the office of Senator in Congress, to fill vacancy caused <br />by the death of Senator Edward M.
