<br />HIGHLIGHTS:
<br />• A new Center parking lot behind the NSTAR building was
<br />opened in July 2007. The lot adds 31 parking spaces post-
<br />ed as 2 -hour meters.
<br />• Depot Square lot is attended weekdays year -round and
<br />Saturdays from April through mid - November from 7 a.m.
<br />to 8 p.m. The capacity of the lot can be increased during
<br />busy times by stacking as many as 60 additional cars in the
<br />aisles.
<br />• 200 annual permits were sold to center business employ-
<br />ees.
<br />• Parking meters are posted for various time limits from 30
<br />minutes to 4 hours throughout the Center.

<br />The Transportation Advisory Committee advises the
<br />Transportation Coordinator on all matters related to the
<br />operation of LEXPRESS and transportation demand man-
<br />agement.

<br />HIGHLIGHTS:
<br />• LEXPRESS Bus Service. LEXPRESS is in its 28th year of
<br />service as a neighborhood fixed -route system. It operates a
<br />three -bus, six -route system. LEXPRESS connects residen-
<br />tial neighborhoods and outlying business areas with
<br />Lexington center, schools, recreation facilities, shopping
<br />areas, and the Senior Center. One route also serves the
<br />Burlington Mall and Middlesex Commons in Burlington.
<br />Buses operate Monday through Friday 6:45 a.m. to 6:25
<br />p.m., September through June, and 7:00 a.m. to 6:25 p.m.,
<br />July and August. There is no service on Saturdays,
<br />Sundays, or legal holidays.
<br />— LEXPRESS passengers consisted of 54% students,
<br />31% adults, 10% senior citizens, and 5% children
<br />under six.
<br />— Ridership increased 11%; revenues were up by 18%.
<br />— Performance reliability remained at 99.9% based on
<br />the measure of completed routes and scheduled hours.
<br />— LEXPRESS passes were provided at no cost to 24 resi-
<br />dents upon referral from Social Services
<br />— Routes were analyzed in light of new Transportation
<br />Demand Management (TDM) sites and route adjust-
<br />ments were made on Routes 2, 3 and 4.
<br />— Joseph's Limousine & Transportation of Medford
<br />began its first year of a 3 -year contract. Joseph's is con-
<br />tracted to operate a fleet of four Ford E1Dorado
<br />Aerotech 240 vehicles built in 2007. Each bus has a
<br />capacity to seat 20, is fully accessible for persons with
<br />special needs, and is in compliance with the Americans
<br />with Disabilities Act.
<br />— The LEXPRESS transit guide is updated annually and
<br />mailed to residents. It is also available at public facili-
<br />ties. Fares can be paid in cash, with tickets, or by
<br />monthly /annual passes. Reduced rates are in effect for
<br />seniors, persons with special needs, and children under
<br />six. In addition to fares and an annual appropriation
<br />by Town Meeting, LEXPRESS is funded by an annual
<br />grant from the MBTA and TDM funds.
<br />— LEXPRESS connects to the MBTA, Burlington B -Line,
<br />and Lowell Regional Transit.
<br />— Expense line above includes expenses funded by
<br />income from other sources. The tax levy portion for
<br />FY07 was $287,063.

<br />their TDM programs, the Hayden Medical Center, the
<br />Hayden Corporate Center, and the Lexington Technology
<br />Park and Met State /Avalon make annual contributions to
