blinking signal at that intersection and pointed out that if the re- <br />quest is approved, it would mean replacement with a regular traffic. <br />light . <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to refer the <br />verbal request of Eileen O'Leary, Greeley Village resident, for in- <br />stallation of "WALK/DON'T WALK" signalization at Bedf ord /Hill /Revere . <br />Streets, and the Board's request for report on safety conditions at <br />other intersections on Bedford Street from the Central Fire Station <br />to Reed Street, to the Traffic Safety Advisory Committee for its re- <br />view and. recommendations. Regarding the requested signalization at <br />Hill /Revere Streets, the Committee will be advised that the Board is <br />aware of the implication that the existing blinker system at that lo- <br />cation may have to be replaced. <br />The Traffic Safety Committee's report on the request of ,Senator <br />Kraus on behalf of Greeley Village residents was reviewed. <br />Upon .motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to accept the <br />Committee's recommendation to deny the requests based upon the <br />following: <br />With respect to the request f or a "SENIOR CITIZEN" Crossing sign <br />at Tewksbury and a "PEDESTRIAN CROSSING" sign on Worthen Road near <br />Grace Chapel, the Committee was sympathetic to the problems, but is <br />opposed to such signs in the absence of traffic signals as being <br />ineffective and providing a false sense of security to pedestrians. <br />Additionally, in view of the low level of traffic along Tewksbury <br />Street, the Committee found it difficult to see a need for a cros- <br />sing sign at that location, <br />P <br />Mrs. Battin extended thanks to Mr. McLaughlin and other members <br />of the Franklin School Conversion Committee present for their efforts <br />and complimented them on their report which had been to <br />the Board. She indicated that no decision upon which of the. three <br />finalists would be chosen as the developer was to be made that evening. <br />Mr. McLaughlin introduced Committee Members Carrol, Ezekiel, <br />Foster, McCarron, Reynolds and Derby and expressed his appreciation <br />to Susan Adler for her work with the Committee. <br />He noted that of the f ive proposals previously chosen, the f allow- <br />ing were recommended, ranked to reflect the preferences of the Commit- <br />tee overall: <br />Assemblies of :God:' Christian Center <br />Renaissance Properties <br />Greater Boston Community Development <br />The Committee felt all three were viable proposals, , subj ect ' to <br />further negotiation and that all met the needs of the T own . <br />Regarding the Congregate Housing concept, the Committee felt that <br />it would be offered at market rate only and did not regard creation of <br />additional market rate condominiums in the Town as appropriate. He in- <br />formed the Board of w- illiam Sen; s contribution and help with the Com- <br />mittee's pursuit of that subject. <br />- Mrs. Battin noted the importance of the Congregate Housing issue, <br />which will be researched by a committee to be comprised of designees <br />from various Town agencies.
