He noted that he did <br />not favor inclusion of a Board of Appeals member on the Committee because of <br />the quasi - judicial status of that Board if it is to be the granting authority <br />on DNA Research applications for Special Permit. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to approve the Charge <br />to the Recombinant DNA Research Committee as amended by the deletion of re- <br />quirement for representation of the Board of Appeals in the membership and <br />with a membership of seven to be retained by appointment of two citizens, <br />rather than one. The Charge to the Committee as approved is as follows: <br />There shall be a seven member committee consisting of one member of the <br />Planning Board, one member of the Board of Health, two citizens at large and <br />three citizens with scientific and /or technical backgrounds with specific <br />knowledge of research re Recombinant DNA. <br />The Committee shall: <br />1. Investigate existing regulations and /or ordinances in other communi- <br />ties when this kind of research is conducted . <br />
