DESCRIPTION This article calls upon the Town of Lexington to seek state designation <br /> for the Battle Road in these four towns as a State scenic byway Such designation is <br /> identified as a recommended action in the Lexington Comprehensive Plan. The purpose of <br /> the Battle Road Scenic Byway would be to recognize, protect and enhance the unique <br /> historic, scenic, cultural and recreational resources along the byway, including preservation <br /> of the character of the corridor Recognition will provide a focus and a framework for <br /> expansion of economic opportunities, development of balanced tourism and a context in <br /> which to evaluate proposed roadway changes The four communities would work in <br /> partnership to preserve the resources and improve the experience of the byway for both <br /> residents and visitors <br /> ARTICLE 9 VINE STREET—ABANDON SEWER EASEMENT <br /> To see if the Town will vote to abandon the sewer easement running between Vine Street and <br /> Hayes Lane taken by the Town in 1915 and recorded in Middlesex South Registry of Deeds <br /> Book 3975, Page 250, or act in any other manner in relation thereto <br /> (Inserted by the Board of Selectmen) <br /> DESCRIPTION The sewer line in the subject easement was replaced by a sewer line <br /> installed in an easement acquired by the MDC in 1952 A vote of town meeting to abandon <br /> the 1915 easement will enable property owners over which the easement runs to remove <br /> references to it from their deeds <br /> GENERAL ARTICLES <br /> ARTICLE 10 AMEND NON-CRIMINAL DISPOSITION BY-LAW <br /> (STREET OPENINGS) <br /> To see if the Town will vote to amend §1-6 of the General By-Laws(Non-Criminal Disposition)by <br /> adding thereto regulation §181-15 of the Department of Public Works relating to street excavation <br /> permits, or act in any other manner in relation thereto <br /> (Inserted by the Board of Selectmen) <br /> DESCRIPTION This article would establish fines for non-criminal disposition (ticketing) <br /> of violations of the Department of Public Works regulation relating to street excavation <br /> permits <br /> ARTICLE 11 AMEND REFERENDUM PROVISIONS: <br /> CHAPTER 215 OF THE ACTS OF 1929 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to petition the General Court for an Act to amend Section 8 of <br /> Chapter 215 of the Acts of 1929, as amended, to change the time limit by which the Board of <br /> Selectmen must hold an election to vote on a referendum seeking review of a Town Meeting <br /> vote, or act in any other manner in relation thereto <br /> (Inserted by the Board of Selectmen) <br /> 10 <br />
