She stated that while she did not know Mr. Redgate personally, <br />she understands that'he is an able and competent person who served on the <br />tax policy committee and would be a perfect candidate for�._economic :develo.pment <br />committees or one - of the finance committees. She felt that Dr. Names P. <br />R eilly who has been a Town Meeting Member for eight years and served n the <br />Solid waste Committee and dealing with land issues and, therefore, fulfilled <br />the criteria set up by the Board previously. <br />After further discussion, Mr. Busa stated. that he felt that the Board <br />should look over the criteria at a future date to see if the criteria set by <br />a previous board is still relevant. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, Mrs. Battin abstaining from voting, <br />it was voted to appoint Mr. Laurence Redgate an Associate Member of the <br />Board of Appeals for a one -year term. <br />en. Rev. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to reappoint Margery M. <br />om. Battin, Karsten Sorensen, .Joseph Trani, Robert F. Sacco, Thomas K. Dyer, <br />Laura Nichols, Lawrence Chait and William Gothorpe to the Center Revitaliza- <br />tion Committee and to appoint Jack. Powell to the C ommittee for a one -year <br />terra. <br />04 <br />Police Ilan, Mr. Politi moved to appoint Peter Agnes, Jr. to the Police Manua. <br />Pot. Com. Policy Committee to replace Chief Corr. He explained that his reason for <br />not nominating Chief Furdon was his ongoing concern about staff persons r <br />serving on a policy making committee, especially one that is directly re- .�. <br />lated to their job duties. He stated that he had spoken to Chief Furdon <br />who indicated that if 'the committee was an advisory one, that is, if it re- <br />ported its recommendations to the Chief who then reviewed therm and decided <br />whether or not they should be brought to the Selectmen, he had no strong <br />feeling about serving as a full member. Mr. Politi stated that both he and <br />the Chief felt strongly that the Chief should attend meetings as a staff per- <br />son and provide his input. <br />Mrs. .Battin stated that she had no trouble with the appointment of <br />Mr. Agnes if Mr. Crain, as the Chairman and Board of Selectmen representative <br />on the committee also approved the appointment. <br />Mr. Busa stated that he had spoken to Mr, Crain who had stated that <br />he understood Mr. Politi's concerns, but did not give Mr. Busa a final cen- <br />ser regarding the appointment, <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to table the appoint- <br />ment to the Police Manua. Transportation Advisory Committee. <br />Mr. Politi moved to table the nomination as he was not aware that there <br />were two vacancies unti this evening. <br />Mrs. Battin stated that at Mr, rain's request she had spoken to-Mrs. <br />C astleman about Mr. Mix and Mr. Neumann and had been told that both had been <br />
