(WARRANT FOR SPECIAL STATE ELECTION - SEE WARRANT FILE) <br /> SPECIAL STATE ELECTION - NOVEMBER 1, 1977 <br /> On June 21, 1977 Carol C. Amick was elected Senator in General Court for the <br /> 5th Middlesex District to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Ronald <br /> C. MacKenzie. She thereafter resigned as Representative in General Court for the <br /> 37th Middlesex District. <br /> Speaker of the House of Representatives, Thomas W. McGee, called for a Special <br /> Primary to be held October 4, 1977 and a Special Election to be held November 1, <br /> 1977 in the 37th Middlesex Representative District (precincts 7 and 8 in Lexington; <br /> Precincts 7 and 10 in Billerica; and all of Bedford) to fill this vacancy. <br /> In pursuance of the warrant the legal voters of the Town of Lexington met in <br /> their respective voting places in said Town of Lexington on Tuesday, November 1, <br /> 1977 at 7:00 in the forenoon. <br /> The following places were designated as the voting places for the two precincts: <br /> Precinct Seven, Estabrook School; Precinct Eight, Central Fire Station. <br /> The election officers and wardens of the two precincts were assigned for duty <br /> as follows: <br /> Precinct Seven Precinct Eight <br /> R Mary F. Coletta <br /> The election officers were sworn to the faithful performance of their duties. <br /> The polls were declared open in each of the two precincts at seven o'clock <br /> A.M. and remained open until eight o'clock P.M., at which time, after due notice, <br /> they were declared closed. <br /> The total number of registered voters in each of the two precincts eligible <br /> to vote as of October 12, 1977 as follows: <br /> PRECINCT REPUBLICANS DEMOCRATS INDEPENDENTS AMERICAN TOTALS <br /> Seven 475 975 696 1 2,147 <br /> Eight 476 820 649 0 1,945 <br /> Totals 951 1,795 1,345 1 4,092 <br /> Recap sheets were delivered to the Town Clerk at her office as follows: <br /> Precinct Seven 8:27 P. M. <br /> Precinct Eight 8:20 P.
