(WARRANT FOR SPECIAL STATE PRIMARIES - SEE WARRANT FILE) SPECIAL STATE PRIMARIES MAY 24, 1977 Due to the resignation of Senator Ronald C. MacKenzie as senator from the Fifth Middlesex Senatorial District, on April 5, 1977 a precept issued by Kevin B. Harrington, President of the Senate, was received. This precept set forth Tuesday, May 24, 1977 as the day for holding a primary, and Tuesday, June 21st, 1977 as the day for holding an election to fill the vacancy now existing in said Fifth Middlesex district, comprising Wards 2, 3 and 4 in the city of Waltham and the towns of Bedford, Precincts 2 and 3 of Belmont, Burlington, Carlisle, Chelmsford, Precincts 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9 of Lexington, Lincoln and Wilmington. In pursuance of the warrant the legal voters of the Town of Lexington met in their respective voting places in said Town of Lexington on Tuesday, May 24, 1977 at 7:00 in the forenoon. The following places were designated as the voting places for the various precincts: Precinct Four, Senior High School; Precinct Six, Diamond Junior High School; Precinct Seven, Estabrook School; Precinct Eight, Central Fire Station; Precinct Nine, Maria Hastings School. The polls were declared open in each of the five precincts at seven o'clock A.M. and remained open until eight o'clock P.M., at which time, after due notice, they were declared closed.
