Busa, Chairman
Board of Selectmen
Town of Lexington
`1625 Massachusetts Avenue
Lexington, MA 02173
Dear Mr. Busa:
It is with pleasure and relief that I submit the enclosed.
Report of the By-Laws Committee. Committee members Marthur
Kalil, Sheila Clemon-Carp, Stephen Russian, Anthony Mancini-and
I look forward to discussing our report with the Board of
Selectmen.
The report itemizes each amendment to the General By-Laws
that we recommend. A1l~of our recommendations have unanimous a
approval of the Committee.
One further recommendation, not mentioned in the Report,
concerns format.. When a revised set of General By-Laws is
published, we suggest that it be done in loose-leaf form, to
facilitate the integration of subsequent amendments® The
present By-Laws, with amendments stapled to many pages, are
somewhat difficult to read. A second recommendation regarding
format is that the revised General By-Laws be attached to both
the Zoning By-Laws and the Selectmen-Town Manager Act. AlI
three documents address some of the same issues, so that a
person using one of them may well need to refer to one or both
of the. others.
Please advise us of a time when you would-like to meet and
discuss our Report.
Sincerely,
PAUL NE4~IMAN
Chairman, By-Laws Committee
cc: Robert Hutchinson
Marthur Kalil
Sheila Clemon-Carp
Stephen T.
