ADJOUR SESSION OF THE 1984 ANN TOWN MEETING <br /> HELD APRIL 4, 1984 <br /> The meeting was called to order at 8 P.M. in Cary Memorial Hall by Moderator <br /> Lincoln P. Cole, Jr. and immediately recessed subject to the call of the Chair. <br /> The meeting was reconvened at 8:09 P.M. <br /> There were 189 Town Meeting Members present. <br /> Invocation offered by Rev. Peter Hunt Meek, Senior Minister of the Hancock <br /> United Church of Christ. 8:12 P.M. <br /> The Moderator declared that Article 2 was now open and would remain open <br /> throughout the entire meeting. 8:12 P.M. <br /> Article 2. Margery M. Battin moved that the report of the Town Manager be <br /> accepted and placed on file. <br /> Adopted unanimously. 8:12 P.M. <br /> Article 3. Presented by Robert F. Sacco. APPOINTMENTS TO CARY LECTURE SERIES <br /> MOTION: That a committee of three be appointed by the Moderator <br /> to have the charge of the lectures under the wills of Eliza Cary <br /> Farnham and Suzanna E. Cary for the current year. <br /> Adopted unanimously. 8:13 P.M. <br /> Article 4. Presented by Robert F. Sacco. ACCEPT ELDERLY TAX EXEMPTION <br /> MOTION: That the Town accept Clause Forty -first B of Section 5 of <br /> Chapter 59 of the General Laws. <br /> 8:13 P.M. <br /> (PERSONS AND PROPERTY EXEMPT FROM TAXATION. CH. 59, General Laws. <br /> Section 5. Certain Property and Polls Exempted. <br /> Forty -first B. Real property .._ of a person who has <br /> reached his seventieth birthday ......) <br /> After a brief explanation by Mr. Sacco, the motion was declared <br /> adopted by voice vote. 8:17 P.M. <br /> Article 5. Presented by John F. McLaughlin. ACCEPT AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER LAW <br /> MOTION: That the Town accept Section 26G of Chapter 148 of the <br /> General Laws. 8:17 P.M. <br /> (Chapter 148, Section 26G. AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEMS; REQUIRED <br /> INSTALLATION; EXCEPTIONS; ALTERNATIVE FIRE SUPPRESSANT SYSTEMS.) <br /> After a short discussion, the motion was declared adopted by voice <br /> vote. 8:26 P.M. <br /> Article 6. Presented by Robert F. Sacco. DISSOLVING COMMITTEES <br /> MOTION: That the following committees be dissolved: <br /> a. Regional Refuse Disposal Planning Committee established under <br /> Article 82 of the warrant for the 1967 Annual Town Meeting; <br /> b. Committee to study the General By -Laws of the Town established <br /> under Article 4 of the warrant for the 1981 Annual Town Meeting; <br /> C. Civil Defense Plan Study Committee established under Article <br /> 39 of the warrant for the 1982 Annual Town Meeting; <br /> Adopted unanimously. 8:27 P.M. <br />
