c �,� � <br /> (Adjourned Session of the 1983 Annual Town Meeting - May 9, 1983.) �. 5;, <br /> Article 30. PRECONSTRUCTION WATER SYSTEM ANALYSIS <br /> Presented by Margery M. Battin. <br /> MOTION: That the sum of $80,000 be appropriated for engineering <br /> services for a pre- construction water system analysis, that such <br /> amount be transferred from the Reserve Fund - Overlay Surplus, and, <br /> in addition, that the Selectmen be authorized to apply for, accept, <br /> expend and borrow in anticipation of federal and state aid for the <br /> project. 9:57 P.M. <br /> Mrs. Battin explained that there are 153 miles of water mains <br /> throughout the town and that 40 miles of the system was constructed <br /> prior to 1935. She added that this analysis would enable the town <br /> to develop a plan to use the grant wisely. 10:05 P.M. <br /> James E. Barry served notice of reconsideration of Article 20. 10:05 P.M. <br /> Article 30. Jacquelyn R. Smith, Chairman of the Planning Board, voiced the <br /> (Cont.) unanimous support of the Planning Board on Article 30. <br /> 10:05 P.M. <br /> Nyles Nathan Barnert, Chairman of the Capital Expenditures Committee, <br /> stated that his committee supported this article. 10:06 P.M. <br /> William J. Dailey, Jr., Chairman of the Appropriation Committee, <br /> stated that his committee supported this article. 10:08 P.M. <br /> Motion, as presented by Mrs. Battin, declared adopted unanimously. <br /> 10:08 P.M. <br /> Article 31. INSTALL DRAINS /WIDENING, DEEPENING <br /> OR ALTERING BROOKS <br /> Presented by James F. Crain. <br /> MOTION: That the Selectmen be and they hereby are authorized to <br /> install drains in such accepted or unaccepted streets or other <br /> land as the Selectmen may determine, including the widening, <br /> deepening or altering the course of brooks, streams and water <br /> courses and the construction of new channels in said other land, in <br /> accordance with Chapter 263 of the Acts of 1926, as amended, or <br /> otherwise, and to take by eminent domain, purchase or otherwise <br /> acquire any fee, easement or other interest in land necessary <br /> therefor; and to appropriate the sum of $150,000 for such in- <br /> stallation and land acquisition, and that such amount be trans- <br /> ferred from the Sale of Real Estate Fund. <br /> 10:10 P.M. <br /> Mr. Crain explained that the funds are for the installation of a <br /> closed drainage system on Grant Street from York Street to Vine <br /> Brook. <br /> Adopted unanimously. 10:11 P.M. <br /> Article 32. BROOK CLEANING <br /> Presented by James F. Crain. <br /> MOTION: That this article be indefinitely postponed. <br /> Adopted unanimously. 10:11 P.M. <br />
