This could change. 8:26 P.M. <br /> 7810 Pension Funding 300,000 <br /> 8:26 P.M. <br /> Comptroller Richard M. Perry gave an explanation of the <br /> Unfunded Pension Funding. He stated that Lexington is <br /> one of thirteen cities or towns that are funding their <br /> pension systems. The town now has $1,000,000 in the fund <br /> with over $250,000 in earned interest. 8:33 P.M. <br /> 7825 Mon- Contributory Pension Fund 190,000 <br /> 7850 Expenses 6,050 <br /> 8:33 P.M. <br /> Public Schools <br /> 7920 Public School- Education 18,234,039 <br /> (Of which $11,950.00 is for out of state travel.) <br /> To which the sum of $230,791 in available and <br /> anticipated P.L. 874 and other Federal and State <br /> Funds, and $28,000 in available and anticipated <br /> athletic receipts is to be applied and the balance <br /> of $17,975,248 is to be raised in the tax levy. <br /> 8:34 P.M. <br /> Shepard Anthony Clough, Chairman of the School Committee, <br /> gave a short explanation of the bud.get.and then asked <br /> that J. Geoffrey Pierson, Superintendent of Schools, be <br /> recognized. 8:36 P.M. <br /> Mr. Pierson showed slides to assist him in his explanation. <br /> He discussed the 1983 -84 Budget Premises. He _stated that they <br /> are maintaining existing staffing ratios. Slides were shown on <br /> the Major Increases, Major Decreases, 1976 -83 Enrollment <br /> comparisons and the total budget increases from 1972/73 to <br /> 1983/84. 8:40 P.M. <br /> William J. Dailey, Jr., Chairman of the Appropriation, informed <br /> the meeting that although it is shown that 52.8% is the school <br /> share of the tax dollar that 59.10 is the actual share due to <br /> costs that are incorporated in the town budget, such as Blue <br /> Cross and Insurance, Workmen's Compensation etc. The increase in <br /> the school budget is the largest in six years (Ya), and the <br /> meeting should do some thinking during the coming year regarding <br /> any increases for next year. 8:47 P.M. <br /> Mr. Clough, with the aid of slides, showed teachers salaries <br /> compared to comparable communities and he added that the <br /> School Committee has worked hard to maintain the line. <br /> 8:52 P.M. <br /> 8100 Regional Vocational Technical High School Assessment 373,906 <br /> 8:52 P.M. <br /> 8500 Interest on Debt 104,803 <br /> 8:52 P.M. <br /> 8525 Tax and Bond Anticipation Loans 223,750 <br /> 8:58 P.M. <br />
