ADJOURNED SESSION OF THE 1983 ANNUAL TOWN MEETING <br /> APRIL 6, 1_983 <br /> The meeting was called to order in Cary Memorial Hall at 8 P.M. by the <br /> Moderator, Lincoln P. Cole, Jr, and immediately recessed subject to the call of <br /> the Chair. The meeting was reconvened at 8:15 P.M. <br /> There were 187 Town Meeting Members present. <br /> The invocation was offered by Rev. John P. Streit, Jr., Associate Pastor <br /> of the Church of Our Redeemer. 8:18 P.M. <br /> The Moderator announced that the meeting would be in a__short formal recess <br /> as he introduced the Lexington Minute Maids High School Girls Championship <br /> Basketball Team. 8:19 P.M. <br /> State Representative Stephen W. Doran read a resolution from the House of <br /> Representatives honoring the team. 8:22 P.M. <br /> The Moderator then introduced John Steele, State High Jump Champion and <br /> Representative Doran read a resolution from the House of Representatives <br /> honoring this young man. 8:25 P.M. <br /> Both the Championship Basketball Team and the Champion High Jumper <br /> received standing ovations from the meeting. <br /> The Moderator announced that Article 2 would be open throughout the entire <br /> meeting. 8:25 P.M. <br /> Article 2. Robert I. Rotberg questioned the Town Manager in regard to the <br /> delay in the construction of the outdoor track at the Center <br /> Playground. 8:26 P.M. <br /> Robert M. Hutchinson, Jr., Town Manager, answered that there was <br /> no delay. Bids were received and he expects that the track would <br /> be completed by September and possibly could be finished by July. <br /> 8 :27 P.M. <br /> Eric T. Clarke, a member of the Civil. Defense Plan Study Committee, <br /> moved that the report of said committee be accepted and placed on <br /> file. <br /> Adopted unanimously. 8:29 P.M. <br /> Article 14. ACCESSORY APARTMENTS <br /> Presented by Jean Gaudet. <br /> (See Pages <br /> 212 and MOTION: That the Zoning By -Law of the Town be amended as set forth <br /> 227 - in the motion of the Accessory Apartment Committee dated March 30, <br /> 233 1983, and filed with the Town Clerk on April 4, 1983. . <br /> for 8:29 P.M. <br /> motion <br /> as (Motion of the Accessory Apartment Committee dated March 30, 1983 <br /> adopted) as filed with the Town Clerk on April 4, 1983 as follows: <br /> MOTION: That the Zoning By -Law be amended by: <br /> a. inserting a new sub- section, as follows: <br /> "5.2 ACCESSORY RESIDENTIAL USES IN ONE FAMILY DWELLINGS: <br /> ACCESSORY APARTMENTS <br /> An accessory apartment is a second dwelling unit located within <br /> a structure constructed as a detached one family dwelling, sub - <br /> ordinate in size to the principal dwelling unit and separated <br /> from it, in a manner that maintains the appearance of the <br /> structure as a one family dwelling. <br />
