TOWN MUTING <br /> mi_m1911 <br /> The meeting was called to order by Moderator Margery M. <br /> Battin, at 8:09 p.m. , in Cary Memorial Hall . <br /> A quorum was present. <br /> 8:09 p.m. The invocation was offered by Reverend Gay <br /> Godfrey, Hancock United Church of Christ. <br /> 8: 11 p.m. The Moderator declared a Formal Recess so that <br /> State Senator Havern could introduce the National Merit <br /> Scholarship semi-finalists. <br /> 8: 14 p.m. The Moderator called the meeting back to <br /> order. <br /> ARTICLE 2. REPORTS <br /> 8: 16 p.m. Jane Pagett, Appropriation Qommittee, moved <br /> that the Supplement to the Report of the Appropriation <br /> Committee be accepted and placed on file. <br /> Following a voice vote at 8: 17 p.m. , the Moderator <br /> declared the report to have been accepted and placed on <br /> file. <br /> Sheldon Spector commented on the report for Article 26, <br /> Miscellaneous School Article. <br /> Renee Cochin, Human Services Committee, moved that the <br /> Report of the Committee be accepted and placed on file. <br /> Following a voice vote at 8: 18 p.m. , the Moderator <br /> declared the report to have been accepted and placed on <br /> file. <br /> Mrs. Cochin commented on the report. <br /> 8:27 p.m. Jacquelyn Smith, 'Board of Selectmen, spoke <br /> about Lexington's renewed rating at the highest possible <br /> level , and recognized Town Manager Richard White and the <br /> Town Staff for their efforts, <br /> 8:32 p.m. Richard White, Town Manager, stated a current <br /> anticipation of a $502,000 reduction in state aid. He <br /> mentioned the possibility of a Special Town Meeting in <br /> the fall depending upon upcoming state action. If money <br /> is not available as currently budgeted, there would be <br /> reduced contingencies for all . <br /> ARTICLE 4. OPERATING BUDGET <br /> 8:42 p.m. Selectman Smith made the following motion: <br /> MOTION: That the following amounts be <br /> appropriated for the ensuing fiscal year and be <br /> raised in the tax levy except where a transfer is <br /> indicated they shall bp provided by such a <br /> transfer. <br /> Moderator Margery Battin read the following: <br /> Schools <br /> 1100 Public School-Education 28,342,393 <br /> 8:42 p.m. Lois Coit, School Committee, reviewed the <br /> current operating budget stating that $700,000 exists for <br />
