CONT. - APRIL 3„1991) <br /> Following a voice vote at 8:44 p.m. which was not unanimous, the <br /> Moderator called for a standing vote which was tallied as follows: <br /> Precinct Yes No Ab§tD,in <br /> 1 2 13 <br /> 2 8 8 <br /> 3 1 15 <br /> 4 2 12 <br /> 5 3 10 <br /> 6 1 12 <br /> 7 5 12 <br /> 8 3 11 <br /> 9 2 17 <br /> At large 3 21 <br /> Totals 30 131 <br /> 8:47 p.m. The Moderator declared that the motion offered by Mr. <br /> Colwell did not pass. <br /> ARTICLE 8. Recreation Operations <br /> 8:47 p.m. Carolyn Wilson, Chairman of the Recreation Committee, <br /> moved Reconsideration of Article 8 as passed. <br /> As passed: That the sum of $773,902 be appropriated to fund <br /> the operation of the Recreation Department to <br /> include funding for the school playgrounds, and Reconsidered <br /> to raise such amount $773,902 be transferred from <br /> the Recreation Enterprise Fund. <br /> Mrs, Wilson explained that without the golf course Recreation Could <br /> not exist as an enterprise fund and that the amendment offered by <br /> .1r. Weiss which had been passed and whial included funding for <br /> school playgrounds should he eliminated. <br /> 8:52 p.m. Jane Pagett, Appropriation Committee, stated that the <br /> policy and financial implications were as yet undefined and that, the <br /> Committee supported the reconsidered motion. <br /> 8:53 p.m. The Selectman indicated unanimous support as there was no <br /> money in the article and no process in place to carry out the vote <br /> of Town Meeting. <br /> 8:54 p.m. Ephraim Weiss, P5, stated that he was in favor of <br /> reconsideration. <br /> 8:55 p.m. John Oberteuffer, School Committee, stated that the <br /> Committee supported reconsideration. <br /> Following a unanimous voice vote at 8:55 p.m. , the Moderator <br /> declared Town Meeting to be in favor of reconsideration. <br /> Motion as offered by Mrs. Wilson: <br /> that the motion under Article 8 be amended by <br /> striking the words "to include funding for the amendment <br /> school playgrounds" and by adding at the end the passed <br /> words ", and the Recreation Committee and School <br /> Committee shall jointly study the possibilities see below <br /> of consolidating the maintenance and operation of <br /> all town playgrounds and report to the 1992 <br /> Annual Town Meeting. <br /> Following a voice vote at 8:57 p.m. , the Moderator declared <br /> unanimous passage of the amended motion as offered by Mrs. Wilon. <br />
