227 <br /> ADJOURNED SESSION - 1996 ANNUAL TOWN MEETING <br /> MAY 6, 1996 <br /> The meeting was called to order by Moderator Margery M. <br /> Battin, at 8 p.m. , in Cary Memorial Hall. <br /> A quorum was present. <br /> ARTICLE 2 REPORTS <br /> 8:15 p.m. The Town Manager reported on the armed robbery <br /> incident of the previous night and the importance of the <br /> police dispatch center and praising them for their <br /> performance. <br /> 8:17 p.m. Selectman McSweeney reported for the Board of <br /> Selectmen, indicating the intent to initiate street light <br /> reduction. <br /> • <br /> ARTICLE 4 OPERATING BUDGET <br /> 8:22 The Moderator continued the reading of the budget: <br /> Organizational Expenses <br /> 2410 Municipal Services & Expenses Personal Services <br /> 76,435 <br /> 2410 Municipal Services & Expenses 104,271 <br /> 8:27 p.m. Richard Howe made the following motion: <br /> that Item 2410 Municipal Services and Expenses <br /> be amended by replacing the sum $104,271 with <br /> the sum $74,271. <br /> 8:32 p.m. Paul Lapointe, Appropriation Committee, stated <br /> opposition. <br /> Following a voice vote at 8:33 p.m. , the Moderator <br /> declared the amendment not adopted. <br /> Mr. Howe and sufficient additional members stood to call <br /> for a standing vote.
