ADJOURNED SESSION OF THE 1982 ANNUAL TOWN MEETING <br /> APRIL 26, 1982 <br /> The meeting was called to order in Cary Memorial Hall at 8 P.M. by the <br /> Moderator, Lincoln P. Cole, Jr. The meeting was immediately recessed subject to <br /> the call of the Chair and was reconvened at 8:05 P.M. <br /> There were 186 Town Meeting Members present. <br /> Invocation was offered by Reverend Brian S. Dixon, Pastor of the First <br /> Baptist Church. 8:06 P.M. <br /> Article 2. Frank Sandy moved that the 1982 Annual Report On The Housing <br /> Policy Resolution Adopted By The 1979 Annual Town Meeting be <br /> accepted and placed on file. <br /> Adopted unanimously. 8:08 P.M. <br /> Frank Sandy, Chairman of the Planning Board, gave a status report <br /> of the 1982 zoning articles. The following articles are ready to <br /> be acted upon immediately: Articles 57, 58, 62, 63 and 64. Article <br /> 65 motion will be for indefinite postponement at the request of the <br /> proponent. <br /> The articles that are not ready at this time: Muzzey Junior High <br /> articles, Adams School articles and the Spaulding and Slye Article 69. <br /> 8:13 P.M. <br /> i <br /> Article.40. SCHOOL ZONE SPEED CHANGE <br /> CROSSING GUARD BENEFITS <br /> Presented by Elizabeth M. Barabush. <br /> (See below <br /> for part MOTION: 1. That the posted speed limit in school zones in Lex- <br /> one as ington be reduced to no more than 20 miles per hour. <br /> adopted) <br /> (Part two 2. That School Crossing Guards be extended medical & <br /> not retirement benefits such as covered by all other town employees. <br /> adopted) 8:14 P.M. <br /> Mrs. Barabush gave an explanation for her motion and stated that <br /> she wished to have the two sections divided for voting purposes. <br /> The Moderator stated that Section 1 and Section 2 would be divided <br /> for voting purposes. 8:18 P.M. <br /> The Moderator stated that Section 1 is now before the meeting. <br /> There was much discussion regarding the installation of a flashing <br /> speed limit sign (20 mile limit in school zone). James F. Corr, <br /> Police Chief, said that such a sign could not be posted where there <br /> is a crossing guard. It is not possible to have both. 8:33 P.M. <br /> Mrs. Barabush wished to amend her motion but, after a short recess <br /> (8:37 P.M. to 8:43 P.M.) the Moderator ruled the motion out of order. <br /> Renee T. Cochin moved to substitute the following motion under <br /> Article 40, part one: <br /> (Part Resolved that this town meeting recommend to the Board of Select - <br /> one as men that the Traffic Safety Committee study the speed zones in all <br /> adopted) streets passing by schools and that the Board of Selectmen appoint a <br /> committee of 5 citizens, including representation from the Crossing <br />
